Swim faster to slim down

Yup as simple as that...take what you're eating and doing now, but just shave off a few seconds from each interval and get back to me... ;)
  • Easier said than done. I guess I would have to double my swim time, right now, to see some weight loss. I usually swim one full hour in training, with coach, thrice weekly. The other days I goof off at the pool and try and do at least 1,000 meters, sometimes more. When I was running, at least 6 miles daily with long runs on weekends up to 10-14 miles, I still had trouble losing weight, I just kept my weight in the 210 area. Now it has gone up to 226. I have started, once more, a weight lifting program to augment my caloric debt. I hardly eat at all. You know there are three consummate liars: the drunk, the smoker and the fat guy. I only have a couple of drinks a day, I hardly ever smoke, just a few puffs, and I hardly ever eat...get back to you later after two months of weights plus swimming...billy fanstone The worst thing you can do is not eat! That kills your metabolism and throws you into starvation mode where your body tries to store anything it gets because it is not getting enough. Try eating 6 small meals about 3 hours apart. I would recommend starting with a protein, carbohydrate and vegetable in each meal to begin. Use the size of your palm for measurement of your amounts of food. I find Boost high protein shakes are a quick convenient thing for before or after practice. good luck

Fat on fat, the UK diet is not for athletes. Heavy cream on your breakfast delites. Heavy cream on your jello.. I was there and all meals were fat city.

I never ate yesterday evening thinking I'd be at the pool by 6:30, and then unluckily my wife was delayed getting home so I couldn't leave for my swim. When she got home I was begining to feel dizzy (no kidding) and I knew at this point I didn't have time to eat before swimming, and couldn't swim on empty...so I had to skip.

I can't eat before swimming either, but when I get up in the mornings I need something. Try eating just some bread or something light like that. I find, and read, that this will help. Of course you don't need to eat bread, but this is what I've found to work the best for me. I don't eat much either.

If had planned for an 8pm I would have had a powerbar or toast etc.

Irony or humor doesn't come across on the internet very well. Of course I meant what I said about liars, because I once was one. However, let me make this clear, I haven't had a drop of any alcohol since 1990, nor smoked tobacco (I was to chicken to smoke the other stuff) since 1997...however I might lie about eating, but I do eat regularly. I have over 20 books on diets with me, all read, some followed, whatever...I just got to eat smaller portions, eat less calories. I am good at eating the right stuff, actually I am obsessed with roughage and bowel movements...
