It's not going to be as interesting as Ande's but I realized when I was powerlifting 10 years ago that this is the best way for me to track and evaluate my progress so here it is.
I have a plan :thhbbb:
Now, it may not be a good plan, it may actually lead to me :drown: or I might get :toohurt: or even end up needing a :cane: but at least it's a plan.
Part of the plan is to convince you that this sprinting thing is for wusses and the Truth lies in distance. Failing that I'm gonna switch you to de-cafe.

hey man, way to go getting in the heavy duty yardage, and working on those 400s! sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet!
we did lots of short stuff ourselves last night - you'd've enjoyed it!
OK, so I iced the heel and it looks really interesting right now.
But, my daughter's friend had a birthday party at where else? The pool, I drop her off and then I decide that I'm going to do some stroke drills.
3pm omo
6x25 Free on :45 - working to maximize distance per stroke. I was hitting 8-9 strokes per length.
6x25 Br on 1:00 - worked to hit a nice long streamline. Going about 4.5-5 SPLs.
4x25 Back on :45 - same drill as Free but I was only hitting 11-13 SPLs. Don't understand why the big difference. Need to find somewhere to get some underwater footage taken.
4x25 Fly - was hitting 6-7 SPLs. This one really made me realize that I need to SLOW DOWN on Fly. I'm trying to go to fast and that is not helping me.

Am I sick or what? Am I a chlorine addict? Just disturbed in general?
Tom: In my gym sessions (which have only been once a week, need to get to 3 times per week) I hit my abs pretty hard. I also squat which works the core and will be adding deadlifts (another exercise that works the core) so if I can do a work 3xweek, squat and deadlift once a week and swim 3-4 times a week that should work my core enough. I hope.
My heel is now a SPECTACULAR shade of blue/black and also has a really nice 1.5x1 inch blood blister. Ugh. Really banged the crap out of it.

You may be surprised how long it takes your heel to heal. I smacked my heels on the gutter on December 2 (2007) and even now if I push on the right heel I can find the tender spot. Twice in the four weeks after doing it I really set it off again by bumping it lightly on a chair leg. It didn't interfere with hiking, lifting, spinning, or swimming, but slip-on shoes were really uncomfortable for several weeks.
Our: Not really, I know this is a 6-8 week healing process and even then there will still be residual soreness with regards to that area. It will more like be a 3-4 month healing process and that's if it doesn't take any more abuse. :frustrated:

You're right. It's not a good plan. Never happen. Others have tried and failed. Distance is overrated; speed is awesome.
Take care of that heel! That sux.

9am SCM with team
400 swim, 200 kick, 100 pull w/u
OK, this started badly. During the 400 swim, I was working on increasing my distance per stroke and all of sudden, I noticed 'Hey, there's the T" flip-BANG-owowowowowowow, banged my right heel right on the top of the wall. Hurt like hell when I did it, still hurts.
2x
1 - 3x50 back descend on 1:00, 2x150 Free, 3x50 Free descend on 1:00, 150 pull, 150 kick (did another 150 pull)
2 - 3x50 Free descend on 1:00, 2x150 IM on 3:00, 3x50 back descend on 1:00, 2x150 descend on 2:30
100 w/d
2600m in 1:00
Got home and the back of my right heel was a nice dark blue. Iced it down. I felt really good in practice and am PISSED that I freaking hurt myself and it cost me a very nice session. At least I gutted it out and finished but geeeeeze.
