Well I have been reading through all of these posts and they are extremely informative on the swimming aspect, but was wondering if anyone has any recommendations/recipes for some great swimming food? Was thinking a nice chicken stir fry over rice. Not going on a diet and don't think I am dedicated enough to do the 6 small meals per day thing, just a regular 3 meals a day *** that pretty much cut out fast foods since I began 3 weeks ago.
Also, is it more important to have a meal before or after a workout? I always seem to be hungry coming out of the pool after a workout regardless of eating an hour before. Thanks in advance

What I do - three small meals a day and four snacks a day. My snacks sometimes could be a small meal.
Fast foods are not bad it is how big is the fast food meal.
When I go to Point Roberts just accross the border, as an after breakfast snack I get about a dollars worth the Jo Jos. I don't share these with my wife.
If I go to Wendy's a baked potato.
Macdonalds a small hamburger. We do not have to order the meal deal or get Large of anything.

George I have been to the one in Burlington before. The new one in Brampton is huge and really nice. We are going to the one in Kitchener as we live in a small town near Guelph Ontario.
I try to eat light before we go to. I also try to stay away from the fried food and desserts. IT is tough and sometimes I fail . My daughter picked it for her :party2:. There are 17 of us going. Should be fun.
flaswim. YUP you might have a hard time with the no bread. YIKES . I love pasta and bread it just does not love me SIGH . Good luck and keep me posted on how you are doing.
Slowswim that sounds like the diet I am going to incorporate minus the V-8 YUCK. I cannot stand a tomato based drink.
I need to go and buy another protein powder. Do you drink it with water or Milk?

No problem eat everything you can. One day of endulgence is not a problem.
I try to take a little of everything I can see and spend about 2 or 3 hours. It is so good.

We leave Oct 20 our return is Dec 22nd but we may stay for 5 months. I usually take the motorhome but this year we are flying.
I love the food down there. It tastes so good. We try to eat fish on Fridays.
We do not eat too much beef it seems very tough but everything else is great. I can't wait to get to our favorite Taco stand in La Manzanilla. It is a family operation. His beef is very good, the pork and chicken is the best. We sit on the street and meet and eat with anyone who sits at our table.
This is the town we get our Tacos in. www.tomzap.com/manzaphotos.html

It sounds fabulous. I hope that my hubby and I go for several months in the winter when we retire. My mom just loves it.
Where do you swim when you are down there? Is there a pool near you or do you brave the ocean?

Katie:
Swap a yogurt drink with a Probiotic for the V-8. I mix it up, but I love V-8 and can't tolerate Tomato Juice. Go figure.:dunno:
Bloody Mary's not a bad substitute for a post workout meal. :drink::groovy:

Katie,
I drink Whey protein with milk every morning after I swim. I get the chocolate flavored powder. Nothing like starting my day off with some chocolate. I have noticed that it helps with my appetite in the mornings. I eat some yogourt late morning then have lunch. I am usually pretty good until dinner. Sometimes I will get a small bowl of ice cream before bed...well that is if I can stay awake. I am usually asleep around 9 or 10 at the latest.
