I was fine at swimming; got home it started to ache now it hurts to bend it or have any lateral motion. Ice and advil huh?
I think it's probably just a bit strained...let's hope...
Poolrat, I belive the surgical tubing is almost like an overcorrection drill. You want more movement/seperation in the knees than a tight band would allow.

I had it loose enough that with the stretch my knees came apart about 12"-15". It showed me what I need to work on to get a better kick. I would almost come to a complete stop in each cycle.
Yeah, you guys are all really on topic. ;) A little healthy dose of defiance never hurt anyone.
I have a sore left elbow. Ice? It hurts when I lift weights a bit. Don't now what I did. Tendon strain? Knees still OK. But I haven't been tiling ...

It almost sounds as though you answered your own question..."It showed me what I need to work on..." Coming to a complete stop in each cycle may be that because of the band you were dropping your knees too much causing more drag. Just a thought. I don't recall that being a problem for me with the stretch cord around my knees. Another good kicking drill ...whipkick on your back and not allowing your knees to break the surface. This helps you to draw your heals up to your butt rather than dropping your knees during the initial phase of the kick. This drill took me awhile to get right. PoolRat and others', comments on my interpretation of this drill would be appreciated too.
Humm I wonder if I should start a new thread or post here? Anyway, I have a close friend who is a runner and has recently had one minor injury after another... icing it and advil has worked. The other day we were having lunch and I was surprised to see her order something relatively high in fat to what she usually orders... her diet is very low fat (below 20%). I comment on it and she said she had just read an article in one of her running magazines (I think) that folks who eat a very low fat diet suffer more injuries than those with a higher fat diet. So, something else to think about in relation to injuries--technique, strengthening, rest, treatement and DIET.

Lainey perfectly acceptable post in this thread...can be re-linked to others too if need be. I think that fat is important. Working out to break it down into other little imoprtant nutritional components is important too. I guess moderation in everything is the lesson.
Excuses, Rich.
I'll be doing my first masters 100 *** tomorrow at UMBC - will let you know how it goes! Its too bad you aren't coming, because with that ailing knee, I would think that would bode well for my chances of a head-to-head victory. :dedhorse:
Warren,If I'm remembering my anatomy correctly "Breaststrokers Knee"(yes thats a real diagnosis) is a strained medial collateral ligament. Rich, now is a good time to work on undulation and fast hands with breaststroke pull and dolphin kick.
I'll be doing lots of that and buoy pulls on Monday...the dolphin kick *** pull sill leaves me feeling like something isn't right...dunno why.
The little *** I did felt much more organised though...my recovery is speeding up and my arms are going above the surface creating that lunge...I think it's begining to settle in.
You probably aren't getting the cool glide feeling you're used to that comes with the breaststroke kick. I find the arms much harder to do in that drill.
Where's Fort for this thread? MONOFIN!!!
