I know this is not the national forum spacebar, I want to thank everyone that work & timed & ran the 4 day meet. If you have never been to a National meet, you are missing something from your swimming life!
I swam 6 individual events & 2 relays that taught me how to accept my age & speed both going up!
The comradeship of my fellow swimmers raised my expectations of my dropping self esteem to help me.
Many of the swimmers i did not know but, they cheered me on anyhow!
I missed this year, but glad everyone got the full Arizona oven experience ;)

Site of the best USMS race I have ever seen. That Men's 45-49 500 FR. You, Chris Stevenson, and who else? It was like a heavy weight boxing match battle royale. You and 3 (or 4?) other guys trading body blows for 450 yards, and then someone just hauled ass the last 50 and won it, but I can't remember who. I just remember the overall race was absolutely crazy!
Since you asked, I was curious so I had to look it up.

And hoping for many more.

Keith Switzer blasted for the win, but Steve Unruh, Mike Shaffer, and Jeff Erwin were all in the mix in addition to Chris Stevenson. This was back when I was blogging regularly - forums.usms.org/entry.php.

Yeah the dead heat between 5 swimmers going into the last 50 was crazy. Like I said, I don't think I could find enough superlatives to describe that race. I am just glad I was right there pool side to see it!

OMG I saw that on live stream. It was a battle royal!
My very short list:
2017 Riverside, CA
2019 Mesa, AZ
In Mesa I only got to swim 2 events on Friday. Saturday and Sunday were wiped out due to a back spasm. All I did Thursday was count laps for a teammate and stayed cool as a result. I did hit my entered times so I can't complain. I plan on swimming at the National Senior Games in Albuquerque, NM in June and in Mission Viejo in August. So far I have only gone to meets that I can drive to. Unlike some people I like the hot weather swim meets. It did get hot in Mesa so we went to our car to relax and cool off between events.
