Where's the option for 11? I try to go to 11.
Actually I voted for 8. With 30 seconds rest I think about the best you can hope for is about 500 pace (at least for me) if you want to keep all the swims close to the same time.
About the same for me.
Last night one of my sets was 5 x 100 Free @ 2:00 holding best average. I was 1:00-1:02s on these, mainly 1:00s & 1:01s. Cutting the rest down to ~:30 or a 1:30 interval I'd be lucky to hold 1:03-1:05s for the set without hurting too badly.
How much do you suffer during a set of 5 x 100 :30 rest at a fast pace? (perceived effort)
What do you mean by fast pace? Better write in % of the MHR (max heart rate). It really depends: if the fast pace is 80-85% MHR or under anaerobic threshold then it would be quite fine or 6-7, but 90-95% would be unbearable - 10 (I'm not sure I would complete 10 reps with so small rest :bolt:).
Since few (if any) of my paces are fast, my resulting units of agony on a scale 1 - 100 would be like this:
For 5 X 100 with 0:30 rest at
a 50 race pace
a 100 race pace
a 200 race pace
a 400 race pace
Note: Stated pace does not reflect actual pace done in a race respective to the pace, it reflects equivalent level of effort for the pace during each 100
Really can't be answered without quantifying "fast" pace.
If I say race pace 100 time + 10-15 sec is "fast" but I can just about moderate cruise that as far as effort is concerned... which seems what I'd perceive to be true, then only 5 x that effort with 30 sec rest seems like next to no effort to me. I rated it a 2 for suffering. 8-10 of them or only 15 sec rest and I'd move that number higher.
