What are some ways to drop time in the 100 butterfly ? and is Stretch Cordz A good way to drop time in the 100 butterfly?
  • What are some ways to drop time in the 100 butterfly ?1) Work with your coach to improve your technique 2) Work with your coach to improve your fitness 3) Work with your coach to improve your strength and is Stretch Cordz A good way to drop time in the 100 butterfly? Stretch Cordz can be used to augment your strength and fitness workouts. So yes, as part of a complete training regiment, Stretch Cordz are a good way to improve your times.
  • Get stronger, I think butterfly sprinting responds better to strength gains than other strokes. (And I still think of 100 fly as mostly a sprint.) Work on your dolphin kick a lot. Work on your underwater streamline. Figure out the optimum number of kicks to take off the walls. As dryland exercise, I think cords are virtually worthless: there are far more productive ways of spending precious training time. In the water I think they can be useful (both swimming against and swimming with the resistance). These are strictly my opinions, of course; YMMV. :carolers:

Stretch Cordz A good way to drop time in the 100 butterfly? Forget elastic tubing. Go do some pull ups and your times will drop.
  • You can Swim Faster Faster Tip 335 Build a Fortress of Speed & Strength Train for the 200 & 500 fr Train for some fly Watch youtubes of the best and copy their techinique Perfect your turns and learn how to hit your touch IMPROVE YOUR SDK Help my SDK is Horrible SDK Lane Get stronger Put in the work Be patient
  • Depends on your training. If you are in the water a lot, swim a LOT of fly. In every distance. If you are in the weight room, do specific weight training for fly muscles (especially core). If you only have stretch cords, use them. Focus all of your training on one race and you will improve.

The upcoming issue of Swimmer will have an article regarding dryland stretch cords, which I'm looking forward to. I really benefit from them and work with pretty much every gauge of resistance. For butterfly I'll also use the cords for working with my arm recovery stroke as well as the power stroke.

Which Stretch Cordz is better to use? i Have Red and Blue. I just started two days ago and i been using the Blue one ( heavier resistance) for 4 rounds of 30 seconds. Should i use the Red one for endurance for the 100 butterfly or the blue ?

Should i use the Red one for endurance for the 100 butterfly or the blue ? I have the Body Sport tubes so the color coding is different. Use a lighter gauge for the recovery stroke and a heavier one for the power stroke. And stay with it and I'm sure you'll notice a difference. I'll welcome anyone here to advise on how close to competition to stop the cords/weights. Anyone?
