this was a workout of hers posted in an old issue of Swimming Magazine...i have my team do this at least once every 2 or 3 months. its a killer especially if you have a tight base.
OMG, this would flat out kill me. There would just be a skeleton at the bottom of the pool as all my flesh would be burned up. Holy cow.
Janet Evans was by far the most amazing athlete I've ever encountered.
She used to do the following set LCM:
1x400 on 4:50
1 on 4:40
1 on 4:30
1 on 4:20.
And she'd make it.
1 x 500 on base
2 x 400 on base
3 x 300 on base
4 x 200 on base
5 x 100 on base

Me too! However, once my times are back down after my 4 year lay off (unfortunately), I am going to attempt it!!!

Paul my dear that's because us sprinters are not supposed to attempt such crazy feats.

This link I received from Marcia Cleveland over the weekend makes Ms. Evans' workouts look tame by comparison:

I'm pretty sure Janet never swallowed a jellyfish during practice...
Skip
In her book that she put out last year she gave an example of a particular morning workout where she did 20x400 IM in a LC pool on intervals that were insane. When I get the book back from the coach I loaned it to....I'll put the times she swam.......
Found it on-line.......
5:30 - 8:00 AM
500 Warm up
20x400 IM
1-4@6:00
5-8@5:50
9-12@5:40
13-16@5:30 She swam 5:19, 5:16, 5:15 and 5:15
17-20@5:20 She swam 5:12, 5:09, 5:07 and 5:04
500 Cool down
Then she did a 7500 M workout that evening
That is absolutely inspiring!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember getting a workout(scy) of hers from her coach at FAST years ago:

Did this on New Years Day with my club team this last year. We call it "Janet Evans". Took all of 3 hours to finish this one set. Luckily, we are in our anaerobic/speed cycle with OTrials coming up soon. I hate aerobic sets.
Good luck!
