Butterfly, beautiful to watch, difficult to train.
We SDK off every wall.
We're most likely to smack hands with each other and those beside us.
Fly's fun to sprint but no fun when the piano comes down

Does this look any better?
www.youtube.com/watch Try breathing more every other stroke for the fly. I can do it mainly for a 25 and have to alternate between every stroke and every other stoke for a 50. When I was a kid I got easy do it for both 50 and 100 yard fly. Fly once was my second best stroke back in high school and community college days after breaststroke.
Ok, kick arms in but is the kick a complete cycle of up/down that is then repeated as an up/down kick as I kick arms out? Like a 4-beat kick versus a 2-beat kick that I do as a downward kick arms in/upward kick arms out. I have always depended on my arms and my legs have joined the ride but now that I am changing my stroke I am trying to pay attention to my kick which I have never done!
:drowning: :whiteflag:Thanks for the suggestion, but no can do. It wasn't until I gave up breathing every other stroke that I was able to swim longer than 50 yards of fly. Just like Michael Phelps, I NEED AIR on every stroke! The change helped so much that I was able to swim 2,000 yards of non-stop fly and became a Butternut: www.grinswim.org/.../butternuts.html (Scroll down to "Elaine Krugman")
Well, I did the 200 yard fly today with breathing every stroke and no underwaters since I can't do that on a 200. I still will use every other or alternative with every breathing on the 50 and work on the 100 which is still every stroke. I understand since you are a butternut, breathing every stroke is healthful. Also, did 200 yard back, *** and free in workout as well.
I'm a little slow but...is the 1 kick an up/down kick as hands enter in and then an up/down kick as the arms exit. Or is it a down kick as the hands enter followed by the up-kick as the arms exit?
"Two separate full up/down kicks." Thank you! So now should I aim to kick with equal strength in the up-kick/lifting of the water as well as the down-kick/pushing away of the water.

The up-kick is just so you can kick down again, and to lesser degrees, balance and position. No forward momentum obtained from kicking up unless you are doing backstroke
