I'm curious. If you had to choose your favorite post workout food what is it? Not a supplement. Real food here.
Right now I like a blackberry jam with PB and honey with crushed walnuts on Wheat. 300 ca. 10 gr protein. I also like a 25 gr. protein smoothie. If I had to choose a supplement it would be Hammer Recoverite. After a long sat. run over 15 miles I will add a big glass of choco milk.
My latest obsession is a place near the pool which makes this great orange french toast with lots of butter and real maple syrup. That plus some eggs and bacon and coffee after a morning workout and I'm in heaven. Of course a few hours later it's impossible to keep my eyes open at work but who cares?
I'm glad I'm still riding the tail ends of my limitless metabolism from college, as long as I get at least 3 good workouts a week I seem to be able to eat anything I want whenever I want. I have a funny feeling that won't last forever though.
i just ran at lunch and crushed a bag of M&M's afterwards. I think next time i will put those on my sandwich with the walnuts.
Let's be serious though, If none of us had to work or worry about the slowing metabolisms then...12 buffalo wings and a pitcher of Miller lite.:anim_coffee:
I workout in the morning, so here's my favorite post-workout breakfast:
oatmeal (real oats, not quickie oats) with peanut butter (organic, no additives) and honey
double espresso
glass of OJ
It's simple, but keeps you feeling satisfied and the energy flowing through the morning.
Way too healthy for me: 4 pancakes, 4 pieces of bacon, 2 eggs with cheese on top and large OJ, hash browns optional--I call it the lumberjack.
I call that the lard-a**. You on a Phelps training program in the pool to "afford" this?

ouch! me a lardass?--I like to think of myself as husky. I don't do this often but after last saturday (you remember the one you wussed out on), I did partake in the la breakfast.:)
After a meet, there is nothing better than a Four Peaks Cheeseburger (1/3 lb. Angus beef) with beer-battered fries and a cold Kilt Lifter or 8th Street Ale. YUMMY, a great recovery meal if there ever was one. You get your protein, carbs, veggies, and alcohol in perfect portions!
After a workout, I will eat almost anything that is not crawling on the floor at home. Taters or brown rice is almost always a part of the mix though.
Damn, now I am hungry and I have not swum yet!
