i swam 2000m breastroke straight into 500m freestyle no rests, managed to complete in 56mins(2500metres)not too bad to say that today was day 17 of non stop work(worked the last two weekends with no days off....looking forward to this weekend...will get a saturday early morning 7am swim in)
i did a strange ladder set which i made up whilst sitting in roadworks tonight on way to swim...i was meant to get an hour in from 8...till 9 but still in traffic at 8.10..about a mile off decided on a warm up max then warm down chiller set!!!!!!!if ur interested here it is=
1x25m breastroke
1x50m free
1x75m breastroke
1x100m free
1x125m breastroke
1x150mfree
1x175m breastroke
1x200m free
1x200m breastroke
1x175m free
1x150m ***
1x125m free
1x100m ***
1x75m free
1x50m ***
1x25m free
only small rest periods due to lack of time ..i swam the last 25m just past 9 pm..telling the eager lifegaurd"last one!!!"!!!he said"ok,no problem"guess he knows i'm a swim freak!!!!
I printed out an old workout and put it in a baggie. What happened is that I misinterpreted part of the main set and a 3100 yard workout ended up being 4000.
The main set was as follows:
8 X 125 IM (50 main stroke) - 20 sec. rest
8 X 125 as follows: 100 free + 25 fly / 75 free + 50 fly
Well, in the second set I read the / as a + and ended up doing 250s instead of 125s. Actually I only did 7 250s. After that I said enough already and went to the warm-down.
did another variant ladder set
1@25m free
1@50m free
1@75mfree...etc..etc...up to
1@250mfree
then(this reversed)=
1@25m ***
1@50m ***
1@75m ***...etc..etc up to 1@250m ***
all totalling up to 110lengths of 25m pool=2750metres
does anyone else seem to gain an advantage doing ladder warm up sets followed by warm down ladder sets(ie.reversed of as above) i know i always feel better doing same distance ladder sets than just slogging it out..
