Haas has incredible range and went 18 high (timing pads in) in his 50 relay split in practice.
Hell, he went out at 20.90 in the 200! I'm not surprised that when you give him a flying relay start, and relieve him of the burden of having to swim another 150 yards in under 1:10, he can throw down a sub 19 second 50 relay split :agree:
Haas has incredible range and went 18 high (timing pads in) in his 50 relay split in practice. I hear he is a very good long course swimmer, even though I think NOVA swims primarily SCY.
NOVA swims entirely SCY in the summer.
consider this:
haas throws down the fastest *SPLIT* ever 1:30.52 in the 4x200 relay to help UT set a new ncaa record.
but wait
then he goes *FASTER* from a dead start at 1:30.46
nobody else went faster in their individual event after posting the fastest split in history on a relay!

Didn't Eddie Reese say that Hass has done that before? (not the 1:30, but beating his relay split)
That was a great swim although I suspect that there are a few guys who could have gone sub-1:30 had they chosen to do a 200 SCY free shaved and tapered, Angel comes to mind.
Caleb's 100 or Haas' 200. Pick one.
So many great swims, but Haas' really stood out to me, largely because he's only a Freshman. Hard to imagine him not breaking the 1:30 barrier before he graduates.
Something that is easy to overlook, given all the great single swims that happened, was Dressel recording 4 of the 5 fastest 50 free times ever....all in a single day. Nobody else has ever swum it in under 18.40. He did it 4 times on Thursday, in the prelims and finals of the 50 free and as lead off swimmer for Florida's 200 Free Relay in both the prelims and the finals. In the 200 free relay, nobody else was able to out-split Dressel's flat-start 18.24 in the finals, even with a flying relay start.

*Next fastest – is the next fastest person swimming the event. In some cases the second fastest time was also by the record holder.

Wow. I have a feeling he might stay in Austin to train prior to Trials!
Townley looks a lot like a young Boris Becker.
