  • Wasn't Katie Ledecky's 4:24 500 last night Truly mind blowing and probably one of the greatest swimming achievements ever. Back when I swam, 4:24.0 was a pretty fast guy time. I would love to see a male swimmer do a 500 that was as proportionally dominant. How fast would that be? ( right now isn't the men's record 4:08.6 ) 4:25.0 is holding 53.0 per 100, so she averaged 52's ( mind blown, will someone please help me find the pieces? ) Event 3 Women 500 Yard Freestyle ================================= NCAA: N 4:24.06 3/16/2017 Katie Ledecky, Stanford Meet: C 4:24.06 3/16/2017 Katie Ledecky, Stanford American: A 4:24.06 3/16/2017 Katie Ledecky, Stanford U.S. Open: O 4:24.06 3/16/2017 Katie Ledecky, Stanford Pool: P 4:24.06 3/16/2017 Katie Ledecky, Stanford Name Year School Prelims Finals NISCA Points ===================================== A - Final === 1 Katie Ledecky FR Stanford 4:28.37 4:24.06N 198 20 r:+0.68 24.41 50.65 (26.24) 1:16.83 (26.18) 1:43.49 (26.66) 2:10.07 (26.58) 2:37.07 (27.00) 3:04.11 (27.04) 3:31.14 (27.03) 3:58.03 (26.89) 4:24.06 (26.03)
  • no denying how good it was...12secs to 3rd place? 4 to 2nd Leah Smith's 4:28 was equal to her silver medal in the 400m yeah some guy has to get very close to be under 4:04 to be as impressive for win. not happening anytime soon i dont think. to be that far ahead of the field? some guy needs a 3:58...might happen before i die...probably not
  • She goes out the first 200 in a time that would have qualified her 7th in the A final for the 200 free, then throws down three 100's at 53.5, 54.0, 52.9. Incredible!

  • I expected the same. This puts into perspective just how impressive Missy Franklin's 1:39 truly is. The Olympic champion in the 100 goes head to head with the Olympic champion in the 200, presumably fully rested, tapered and psyched for the biggest SCY meet of the year and despite a ferocious challenge from yet a third swimmer, not one of the three gets within 1s of Franklin's 1:39.1. Franklin's time is awesome.

  • i didnt think she would be close considering the relay split of: 4) r:0.11 Katie Ledecky FR5:28.80 (23.35) 5:54.42 (48.97) 6:20.34 (1:14.89) 6:45.91 (1:40.46) vs 1 Katie Ledecky FR Stanford 1:42.02 1:40.36P 188 18.5 r:+0.69 23.71 48.90 (25.19) 1:14.74 (25.84) 1:40.36 (25.62) so she was .58 faster off the blocks in the relay and yet went .10 faster in the individual. to me it looks like the relay record can be broken again!
  • Something went real wrong between NCAAs to 2016 trials and the Olympics. After she went PRO, Heard she went home and trained with her club team. She's now back at CAL www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/.../ She hurt her back. She said it was OK, but her SDKs went from awesome to not that great.
  • She hurt her back. She said it was OK, but her SDKs went from awesome to not that great. When did Franklin ever have "awesome" SDK? (Not that I am in any position to judge, but in comparison to most elite backstrokers her's always seemed weak.)
