Given water is 87 degrees
Given air is 90 degrees
Distance 2 miles
Time swimming time around 50 min.
How much fluid will be lost (sweat)? Anyone want to hazard a guess?
I am thinking 3 pints? = 3 pound...
I plan to weigh myself prior to and after the race. Results should be interesting.

Depends on intensity too. At high intensity 2-3 to me sounds legit.
I think I lose 3 pints of sweat sitting in 90 degree weather for 50 minutes. . .
Seriously, there is one Y indoor pool that I occasionally have to train at due to schedules, etc. It is always between 87 and 90 in temp. The ambient temp is about 72. If I train for an hour, I easily lose 3 pints in the training and maybe an additional pint afterwards as I sweat for up to an hour after getting out. It takes me all day to rehydrate.
A Pint's a pound the world around..
I lost 15 lbs in collage at a weekend long wate-rpolo tournament. My coach (a real dope) gave us salt pills and told us not to drink too much water. This was pre water-bottle. I think he thought we were loafing if we got out of the pool to take a drink at the water fountain.. I had kidney stones after my Sr. year thanks to him. You do not want any part of that.. trust me.. Drink lots of water!!!
thanks bob ... I can recall as a youngster how excited I was to get a pint of coke... with the bottle I imagine it was more than a pound easily but thinking of a pint itself it certainly seems less.
cheers
a pint isn't a pint around the world... :)
i have heard the pint in the english pub is getting smaller as we speak...
we should have a pint and drink... think on it.
Yes to having a pint.
We are about to have a week with two days of 100 degree temps and the rest 95ish
At what temp does it become dangerous to whom?
Keep in mind 2 miles swimming at 10:30am
I have swum Alkatraz several times and discovered that drinking Luke warm liquids instead of warm worked better. Taking cloths off several min before race to acclimate to air temp helped. Ear plugs double capping. But that's for cold water.
Besides lots of liquid, How about caffeine?
Should the beer be cold or at room temp?

True...the english pint is 20oz or 568ml. They tried to metricate it down to 500ml....very unpopular.
Mines a cider :D
