Gull,
Oh give it a bloody rest. Unless you are in a position to have concrete proof that anything against the rules occurred, please take a cup of STFU and :anim_coffee: it down.
Pwolf doesn't think that discussions shold be a part of this discussion forum. Stop it!
If each us was able to devote every day to training (including workouts, technique, nutrition, supplements, massage, psychology, stretching, and recovery), didn't have to work or worry about money, had full-time child-care, plus had our own personal swim coaches, massage therapists and nutritionists on hand daily, I would wager many of us could match or beat our college-year times.
Don't get me wrong ... Dara is uber-talented with a huge work ethic. I love watching her swim and am pulling for her. But there's a lot more to this story than the age-is-just-a-number slogan.

Mark Spitz sure didn't.

I would *LOVE* to have daily massages....
Also - someone to make me stretch.... Especially that. I wish Yoga wasn't so expensive!
I have her stretching video (and got an autographed copy by Steve and Anne for my sister, haha!) which I do religously!!!!
I have her two books - which I have read and studied as textbooks! I do the 5 exercise cycles,
My nutrition "bible" is Bethanny Frankel's "Naturally Thin - Unleash Your SkinnyGirl". Now, you may completely shut your mind to this idea of reading this woman's book based on her persona in Real Housewives of NY or Bethany Gets Married, but I think it is the most realistic way to approach nutrition at least, for me!).
In that one respect, i'm ahead of Dara. I've "banked" 15 knee surgerys, mulitple shoulder surgerys, thumb surgery's etc.....there is no time on the time line that is worth any injury for me! (ie, would it be worth a shoulder injury to go 22.99???? NO, i'll stick with my 24's!!)
I just wish she would come out with a line of clothing!!! I'd wear a sweat suit with a big DARA across the butt!
Do you think the Dara stretching helps? I read one of her books and thought it was very superficial. Where does she disclose her 5 exercise cycles and what are they?
I have to check out Bethany Frankel just cuz you said that.
And I am very anti-surgery myself. No time or energy for that whatsoever. However, I am puzzled by the never exhausted after workouts. Never? Hmm ... I must be overtraining. Drylands kill me.
Don't put that on your butt, girl! Blech, so Juicy Couture.
There is a little bit of Dara in all of us, if you chose to believe it!

I have her two books - which I have read and studied as textbooks! I do the 5 exercise cycles, modified some, and make notes in my book 1, very personal to me, in how I can take some of her stories and flush out how I motivate myself! If you have a vasa (not sure if it works on the ergometer version), I can use the vasa in most all the cable exercises!
I do not like the nutrition section of Gold Medal Fitness. I don't think it's sustainable the way she writes it. My nutrition "bible" is Bethanny Frankel's "Naturally Thin - Unleash Your SkinnyGirl". And the key to translating your success based on DARA is what is realistic for you. Take the good bits (whatever those are for you), and simply don't even finish processing the others. Regarding the whole drug thing, I have no opinion. I could care less if she ever did test positive. I am only interested in the swimming and dryland compenents of what she is willing to share and provide insights on.
For me, no exotic supplement passes the smell test. Other than my Centrum (A to Zinc!) and my fish oil tablets bought at Kroger's, I just don't think I need to be ordering power from Germany (please correct me if I am wrong). And regarding how hard I truly push myself (ie, yes, I goof off and talk to the coach on pull sets), there is no time or improvement worth leaving a workout exhuasted (hence, I have not broken 24.00), and no amount of yardage worth risking any injury, which I have never had. In that one respect, i'm ahead of Dara. I've "banked" 15 knee surgerys, mulitple shoulder surgerys, thumb surgery's etc.....there is no time on the time line that is worth any injury for me! 2nd hand knowledge but here goes:
Spitz was not known as a hard worker in college. I read a story that he got in the pool for the first workout of the season and convinced Doc to give him another week off if he could break 50 in a 100 yard fly. He did it and didn't show up to workout for another week.
So what I heard about the comeback was he thought he could fall in the water and go a 54 in the 100M fly. He didn't put in the work at all.
Count me in the camp of those who are skeptical, but I do buy the claim that no one has ever done what Dara has done.
Dara and Lance. Don't they have the same "consultants"?
No, I don't believe Lance was on the list of Dr. Galea's "clients."
Apparently one must travel to Canada to find a good orthopedist.
Its a sad world we live in when every time an athlete excels, we assume they are doing something to cheat.
I bet for every one of your "athletic anomalies" I can trump you with 3 or 4 "drug anomalies."
