  • There is a little bit of Dara in all of us, if you chose to believe it! I have her stretching video (and got an autographed copy by Steve and Anne for my sister, haha!) which I do religously!!!! I have her two books - which I have read and studied as textbooks! I do the 5 exercise cycles, modified some, and make notes in my book 1, very personal to me, in how I can take some of her stories and flush out how I motivate myself! If you have a vasa (not sure if it works on the ergometer version), I can use the vasa in most all the cable exercises! I do not like the nutrition section of Gold Medal Fitness. I don't think it's sustainable the way she writes it. My nutrition "bible" is Bethanny Frankel's "Naturally Thin - Unleash Your SkinnyGirl". Now, you may completely shut your mind to this idea of reading this woman's book based on her persona in Real Housewives of NY or Bethany Gets Married, but I think it is the most realistic way to approach nutrition at least, for me!). And the key to translating your success based on DARA is what is realistic for you. Take the good bits (whatever those are for you), and simply don't even finish processing the others. Regarding the whole drug thing, I have no opinion. I could care less if she ever did test positive. I am only interested in the swimming and dryland compenents of what she is willing to share and provide insights on. For me, no exotic supplement passes the smell test. Other than my Centrum (A to Zinc!) and my fish oil tablets bought at Kroger's, I just don't think I need to be ordering power from Germany (please correct me if I am wrong). And regarding how hard I truly push myself (ie, yes, I goof off and talk to the coach on pull sets), there is no time or improvement worth leaving a workout exhuasted (hence, I have not broken 24.00), and no amount of yardage worth risking any injury, which I have never had. In that one respect, i'm ahead of Dara. I've "banked" 15 knee surgerys, mulitple shoulder surgerys, thumb surgery's etc.....there is no time on the time line that is worth any injury for me! (ie, would it be worth a shoulder injury to go 22.99???? NO, i'll stick with my 24's!!) I just wish she would come out with a line of clothing!!! I'd wear a sweat suit with a big DARA across the butt!
