I believe they put the 400 and 800 on Friday because with the 6pm start, it would last too long with the 800/1500 combination. Seems reasonable, even though I hate it personally (b/c now I can't swim the 400 free...I have little desire to swim the 1500 before the 200 fly and 200 back double, but I guess I'm just being wimpy).
Absolutely terrible event order for butterfly/backstrokers, but that's pretty much the norm these days. It'll be a fun meet anyway, MUCH better than those other second-rate meets that were mentioned. :)
For me, that schedule works really well for me. People might think that I am crazy but if I swim all three days at this meet, I will probably do the 800 and 1500 as well as the 400 IM and 200 fly. I guess that I am a gluttoon for punishment.
What about butterfly/breaststrokers? 200 fly immediately followed by 100 br; then, the next day, 100 fly immediately followed by 50 br with the 200 br only a few events before.
I'm definitely going, but I guess I'll only be doing breaststroke. I don't think I could do a 200 fly and then a 100 *** back to back and do my best.
Maybe mixed it up, drop one breaststroke and do a fly event.
Honestly, it seems like the order sucks for everyone. 50 free + 100 fly back-to-back? 200 free + 200 back? The 400 after the 800? (Yeah, let's get as many people as possible to stay late.) The 400 on the distance day anyway? Just a mess.
(b/c now I can't swim the 400 free... I guess I'm just being wimpy).
Chris,
Be wimpy in a different way: skip the 800 and swim the 400 on Friday night. You'll be more fresh for the remainder of the meet. Plus, there's a 4:08 national record out there that needs to be broken
On a different note, I'm going to be in Midlothian next Sunday visiting the folks and my Dad says there's a triathlon that will cancel the workout that morning at the club. Any other team in the Richmond area do a Sunday morning workout?
Yeah. I'm happy they're doing it as well. I'd rather it be this way than not at all, so I can't complain. Fly and *** are the only two strokes I can swim decently, so I guess I'll have to tough it out.
