Women's Locker Room

Here's a thread for the ladies to discuss anything that relates to women and swimming. For example, feel free to discuss how disgustingly ugly fastskins are, how the "curse" can kill a meet, how suits don't fit, how swimming wrecks your hair, how hormones unhinge you, etc.

I've used both and I've swum best times in both. I personally feel more comfortable in the record breaker especially for fly. The highneck just feels really awkward to me--but I don't really notice it in the heat of the moment during a race...I just have this panic-y feeling before my races that the zipper is gonna come down or something.
  • High neck all the way Fort. I just swam 4 lifetime best swims this past weekend with my high neck (I also have the recordbreaker.) Did 58.56 in the 100 fly and 2:11 in the 200 fly (split it 1:06/ 1:05). High neck feels a bit restrictive, but you'll be super fast in the water. I even swim IM in it. High neck=Huge Difference Go baby! :bouncing: Have you pre-ordered your LZR? I wish! No, I got the FS Pro high neck on the super markdown at swim outlet. I might give it a whirl in one event at zones (maybe 50 fly). You doing the pre-order? Congrats on those excellent swim!
  • I like my high-neck fastskin a lot, but I have to admit that I've never tried the other kind of back. I did notice that right off of my start, with my arms in a streamline position, that I felt like the fabric bunch just enough to allow a pretty good gush of water to run down my back. Doesn't make much difference in the mile I suppose, but it could mean a lot in a sprint I guess.

But maybe I was too oblivious during the 50s to notice it. Anyone notice, however, that if you log on to check event rankings or whatnot, the "men" are always listed as the default. You have to click on "women" to get to our events. You'd think they could alternate that every year or something.

TMI, this thread is likely to have many male lurkers hoping to sneak a peek at the goings on. Not without pictures. I've written, therefore I am NOT a lurker...........

I always seem to get into mine a lot more easily that other women that I have observed struggling into theirs in the locker room. Just how hard are they supposed to be to put on? How do you really tell if you have the right fit?

Just how hard are they supposed to be to put on? How do you really tell if you have the right fit? They should be a substantially smaller size than your practice suit. For example, I wear a 32 in endurance suits or a 30 in a splish. But my Pro is a 26 and my FS II is a 27. Now, you're probably taller than me, but still ... Most people buy them too big. The people at the swim stores recommend you get them as small as humanly impossible. It should take some time to get into them. If you're slipping it on in a couple minutes, it's way too big. Budget at least 10-15 minutes. Since Pros rip easily, maybe more. If once the suit is on, you can pull the straps up more than an inch or so, it's probably too big. Watching a woman get into her suit is just too hysterical. At my last meet, one woman went into the handicapped stall to sit on the floor because she did not want to subject anyone to the torture of watching her get into it. lol The thighs and hips are torture! On another subject, I was recently told that suit spinners were terrible for your suits. Is that right? They don't seem to do anything to my endurance suits, but I was wondering.
  • the seams will suddenly fail and the suit will fly off in all directions like a stripper video on fast-forward and you are absolutely not going to get a refund if that happens. Think I'll volunteer to watch and verify the concern...
