I thought I read somewhere that in a race if you switch lanes and don't interfere with other swimmers and finish in the orginal lane, it is leagal. Is this correct for uss swimming. If it is what rule number is it in the rule book?
USA Swimming 102.10.4 A swimmer must start and finish the race in the same lane.
Note: if done intentionally, some referees may consider this “unsportsmanlike” and disqualify the swimmer under 102.10.3
Others will disqualify the swimmer for obstructing another swimmer if they get anywhere near the swimmer in the correct lane. 102.10.6
You'd lose time, IMO in crossing lanes.
Also surely the turn would become a point of "interfering with another swimmer" it could be judged that you forced the other swimmer to turn off centre...
Be sure to film this Warren and get a full report form the officials on any DQ or lack thereof.
it would be in a summer league race.
why though? just to see if it get's called?
It'd be more fun to have him wear a women's suit and swim...IMHO...even try to compete with the girls to see if it get's called...
Often the summer leagues have their own rule books. So check that out.
I think they could certainly DQ you.
Don't leave us hanging! Ya gotta tell us who you are trying to psych out or insert other motivation here. . .
There's an adult summer league in my area they have have their own rule book. I did not enter it b/c their meets are in the way of my Saturday training.
One would either have to be very fast or very slow with respect to the swimmer in his nearby lane. As in, passing mid-lap, moving to his lane, making your turn in his lane, and then returning to your lane. I think it would be a hoot! Be sure the swimmer whose lane you will be visiting is not some hot head who will want to strangle you with his goggle straps when he gets out of the water. In fact, the person should be made aware of it pre-race.
