I thought I read somewhere that in a race if you switch lanes and don't interfere with other swimmers and finish in the orginal lane, it is leagal. Is this correct for uss swimming. If it is what rule number is it in the rule book?

  • USA Swimming 102.10.4 A swimmer must start and finish the race in the same lane. Note: if done intentionally, some referees may consider this “unsportsmanlike” and disqualify the swimmer under 102.10.3 Others will disqualify the swimmer for obstructing another swimmer if they get anywhere near the swimmer in the correct lane. 102.10.6
