Delete button?

I have been lurking for awhile and decided to register. There are many controversial and interesting threads here. Swimming is controversial, and seems to provoke a spirited debate. The pure entertainment value of such debate seems worthwhile too. So do we really have to "hit the delete" button before posting something potentially controversial about the sport of swimming? I read this advice in an "angel" post. Aren't we allowed to discuss noodling or TI -- provided we are not overly in love with ourselves or hurling personal lard bombs?
  • I see you have been reading the art of the Geek, Gull, Terry, Cruise, GoodSmith and company. I hit the delete button a couple times on a thread last month and George (Geochuck) scolded me for it. I had to send a couple PMs. Don't be afraid to opine away, but be prepared for some of :blah: and :thhbbb: and:rofl: and  . (Where did the bickering smilie go when I need it?) It does help if you are not "overly in love with self."
  • Non political opinions are always welcome provided you respect the opinions of others. Personal attacks are also frowned upon as you might have guessed. It's this type of narrow-minded thinking that reduces the entertainment value of this forum.

Now I did read that religion, politics and TI were supposedly taboo. But that never seems to stop anyone! Why I think I read somewhere that Geek is a democrat.
  • Dorianblade, But have you seen the size of Kerry's head? He is a great candidate for TI because he would be very low in the water due to head weight. Bush may be slippery, but he would have to have a very high stroke rate because he's much smaller, but he probably wouldn't have drag. Donna Donna: I know today you said you love Don Schollander and have absolutely zero against him. He is a great fellow then and now. What you didn't probably know is that he was a member of the Skull and Bones secret society at Yale whose members included both George Bush and John Kerry. So Don would be the expert to critique there strokes since he knew them back in the day. Read on in Dubya days below. www.portlandtribune.com/.../story.php
  • Nah, I have no intention of hitting the delete button just because a topic is controversial. someone will want to know how long I can hold my breath underwater with help from others How long? :laugh2: I think we had this swimmer vs. coach debate before. As I recall, the coaches were being modest then. I will note that the ancient Greeks thought that water caused men to fall in love with their own reflections. Frank: I think you're baiting Donna.

It's this type of narrow-minded thinking that reduces the entertainment value of this forum. LOL! :joker: It's also the kind of narrow minded thinking that has prevented me from being suspended from the forum again! :applaud:

Who do you think is a better freestyler? bush or kerry? bush appears to be more slippery while Kerry has a massive head which streamlines better. discuss!
  • I'm not talking about the puffballs that Geek and I hurl at each other. Is that what you call those things, "puffballs?" ;) I wish I could "puffball" with such purple prose and wit. By comparison, I'm "sitting on a rock and humming."

Nah, I have no intention of hitting the delete button just because a topic is controversial. After all, it wouldn't be much fun if everyone agreed with us on our "style." I am as opinionated as the next swimmer because what I have done, so far, worked for me and has not failed me. I have always been open to new swimming theories but haven't found any that address forward propulsion and speed. But something I have watched here are that there are professed gurus with very few champions under their belt. Which leads me to a question, I am sure I will be open to machine-gun fire for it or someone will want to know how long I can hold my breath underwater with help from others, does the swimmer make the coach or the coach make the swimmer? And, I am wearing a bullet-proof vest right now. Donna
