Delete button?

I have been lurking for awhile and decided to register. There are many controversial and interesting threads here. Swimming is controversial, and seems to provoke a spirited debate. The pure entertainment value of such debate seems worthwhile too. So do we really have to "hit the delete" button before posting something potentially controversial about the sport of swimming? I read this advice in an "angel" post. Aren't we allowed to discuss noodling or TI -- provided we are not overly in love with ourselves or hurling personal lard bombs?

Dorianblade, But have you seen the size of Kerry's head? He is a great candidate for TI because he would be very low in the water due to head weight. Bush may be slippery, but he would have to have a very high stroke rate because he's much smaller, but he probably wouldn't have drag. Donna

Frank, You are so right!!! The reason I didn't know about it is because it was a "secret society" :shakeshead:. Great article by the way. Donna

I'm taking suggestions for a new user name. My wife says I need one pronto because my current user name is too girlie and ripped off from some_girl.

No need for delete. Sounds like a campaign slogan...we have a lively little community here and the only thing that we need always to monitor is no vicious personal attacks (& I'm not talking about the puffballs that Geek and I hurl at each other); we had them, we lost good people from the forums as a result (left in disgust) and as long as we avoid that sort of nonsense...full steam ahead!

Political responses are very poorly taken on this thread. I made a comment in the "You know you are a swimmer in the north when...." thread and was attacked with a slew of personal messages and the post was removed. I was told that any more such comments would mean that I would be removed.

Frank is pretty good at leading you into the room and then buring it down around you....;)
  • Donna: I know today you said you love Don Schollander It's these really lovey dovey controversial posts like this one from Frank that have caused us to lose the delete function, I believe. They may also have driven away the Gull, but not the Geek. I think we are supposed to think before we hit send. This is called cognitive conditioning or behavioral modification. And I thought it was useful for sleep issues ... The lack of delete function will also ensure that Rich will hit 10,000 posts pretty soon. Especially with his frequent use of one liners.
  • I guess I somehow missed the controversial threads lately Caped One?? Are you referring to the threads that were locked out a few weeks ago? I thought we already discussed that.....or are you referring to more recent threads? I thought I had been reading everything lately and I don't recall any political debates (or any kind of debates at all for that matter) since those two locked threads....but hey, I'm not the brightest rock in the pile .....maybe it went straight over the top of my head....LOL!! Newmastersswimmer Yeah, that was posted back in November. I don't remember a lot of political debates recently, except for the NSR debate over TFs on the "Biggest Loser" thread. That pissed off Mr. Lefty Barra, who then claimed the rest of us weren't lefties, which then pissed us off and then ... well, I think he offered us pork rinds. Ugh. Peter has been exceptionally well behaved lately. He hasn't even thrown a lard bomb at Geek.
