Ok
Im doing kicking sets on the side
What is the bect/ corect position/way to do kicking on the side?
I mainly need to know about the arm position because the first reason for these sets is SHOULDER/s problem
Feel free to post on ANYTHING related to kicking on the side
Thank you
If you've got access to a deep enough pool ditch the kicking on your side and vertical kick.....far easier on your shoulders and far better in strengthing your kick.
I kick on my back because of shoulder problems and because it seems to work my legs harder than kicking on my stomach. I generally put one arm pointing towards the end of the pool (my good arm) and leave my bad arm lying by my side.
If you are bound and determined to kick on your side I suppose you should lead with your good arm and alternate to the bad arm if you can do so without discomfort.
Unfortinatly i have no GOOD arm
And i also found that kicking on the back works the hamstrings more. I have some other problems for which is not good ( too compicated to explain trust me.... or maybe im just lazy...)
And kicking vertical is good but i seem to be haveing problems with the isssue of standing in one place... i mean... i cant work with as much effort while obviosly not "going anywhere"
Im a try kicking on the stomach with a kickboard... i hope that wont hurt my shoulders
what about arm/ palm position
I read that the more the thumb is turned on the inside the presure on the shoulder is greater ( internal rotation?!?)
Internal rotation is bad for your shoulders. Using a kickboard will generally put pressure on your shoulders which could make your problems worse.
When I kick on my back I don't hold my arm up in a tight streamline. I lie it above me with a bent elbow...no strain or stress on the shoulder joint at all. Perhaps underwater body dolphins would be better for you right now. You can do them with your hands at your sides and only use your arms when you come up for air. Actually you should be able to come up for air sans arms once you get the hang of it.
would it make a difrence if while kicking with a kickboard i point my thumbs up( if you get the picture) I mean rotate my palms so that they are faceing each other. Of course i cant hold a kickboard like that so im thinking about useing a bouy
