Just thought I would start a thread which didn't have deep philosophical overtones so that we all can have fun with the new forum software. Based upon personal experience, I will start a list of “You know you are a swimmer when …” with the following:
You know you are a swimmer when you leave work in the rain and you can smell the chlorine coming off of your hair.
Anyone care to add to the list?

You know you're a swimmer when you're spouse is so sick of swimming events that he/she says, "I would rather watch paint dry than go to your meet"
*yep, she actually said that*
You know you're a February Fitness Challenge Swimmer when you spend all your time at work thinking up ways you can escape and get more yards in.

I can relate to that!! When we go away I always look up swimming pools on ymca.net and swimmersguide.com, and a lot of the time I do end up getting up at 5:30 and eating a power bar on the way to the pool. What is really funny is that hotels will usually say, "But we have a pool here", not realizing that a 15 yard pool with a rope across the middle and stairs at the end is pretty useless as a SWIMMING pool.
......While you are recovering from shoulder surgery, you break down in tears while doing a load of whites because the smell of bleach reminds you how much you miss swimming!!!
......Your idea of a perfect Mother's Day is going for a swim!
......You get up at 6:00 during your vacation so you can get your swim in before your family wakes up!
......When looking for a new house, one of your requirements is a neighborhood with a 25yd. pool!!
......You actually start shaking from the adrenaline rush while watching swimming competition on TV.
......YOU CAN NOT IMAGINE YOUR LIFE WITHOUT THIS WONDERFULL SPORT!!!!
:D
oh oh, you know you're a swimmer when:
after a sprint, when you're standing in the pool gasping for air, it's somehow easier to breath out under the water than just into the air... anyone experiencing this? Heads into water, breath out, head above water breath in, rinse and repeat...
When i am totally exhausted in my workout but not done yet, I start doing "open" turns - and I bob up/down once and take an extra breath at the end of the pool! And I always exhale under the water when I do it.... Not sure why. Didn't plan it that way. It just sort of happened that way.
