  • Kicking is essential to swimming. ... What did you do in practice today? ... kick set was 8x(50 swim IMO/1:00 + 50 kick/1:00) 'been out of the pool for almost two weeks due to illness. I was slow and definitely was wishing I had not eaten such a big lunch, but it's better than the no kicking that I have been doing for nearly two weeks.

  • I'd never heard of this postal event. When was it added? One question. It says: 2. No "stroking" into wall. Do you just kick until your board bumps the wall, then turn?
  • I believe it means to keep both hands on board at all times except for turns, where one hand can catch and push off the wall
  • Swimmers who change age groups during the event may enter and pay twice, but must kick the event twice, once in each age group. What if I begin kicking at 11:58pm right before my birthday begins at midnight, thus completing it at a different age than when I began? What if two twins, who were born 6 minutes apart, begin kicking at ok I'll stop now

What did you do in practice today? 8x25m on :30 interval 1,3,5,7 on back 8 hard SDK, then streamline surfaced flutter on back 2,4,6,8 on front 8 hard SDK then streamline surfaced flutter on front I've found that for me it's equally important to work hard SDK on front AND back. I tend to put more emphasis on whatever is the downward beat of the kick. :) My workout was only 800m total today as a cooldown after the weight room.
  • What did you do in practice today? 1x500m warm-up Flutter kick (boardless, snorkel) 20x25m on 1:00 30 minutes Not sure what type of kick set this is - lactate production maybe? I also have no idear what distance this workout will help me with. Nevertheless, the first few were about 90% effort to the wall. But then-on it started feeling like 95% and furthermore my legs filled up with lead on last 5m of each one making the final bit feel like 100%. If I did 25m for time it would be about 18 high (no board) I will do a speedy one tomorrow like 10 second balls to the walls
  • All flutter kick with a board in a 25y pool: 2x25 on :25 2x50 on :50 2x75 on 1:15 2x100 on 1:40 2x125 on 2:05 2x150 on 2:30 2x175 on 2:55 2x200 on 3:20 Wasn't very impressed with how I did. I was trying to hold a 1:30 pace or faster per 100, but started slipping on the second 150. Held a 1:34/1:35 pace for the rest of the set. I'm a far cry from my old 1000 kick for time average pace of 1:27!!
  • I'd never heard of this postal event. When was it added? One question. It says: 2. No "stroking" into wall. Do you just kick until your board bumps the wall, then turn? I sent this email to Marcia: Hi Marcia, On the 400 kick for Time Consider requiring counters/timers to use a split sheet & for kickers to include their 50 splits along with their final times Please clarify the rule: "2. No stroking into the wall" On turns, are kickers allowed to redirect their boards before they touch the wall? On more rules consider specifying no pulling on lane lines One or 2 kickers per lane if there are 2, they must split the lane Ande Rasmussen Sent from my iPhone Her reply: Thanks for the feedback, Ande. Unfortunately it's too late to change the wording, as I've already received several entries. But I hope I can clarify this for you. Yes, you can redirect your board. You just can't pull through the water with one arm before you get to a wall. That's what most people would define as "stroking" so I hope it's obvious to everyone. *Good idea on the rest. I'll include it next year. Good luck! Marcia
