I didn't realize it while watching it last night, but there was a Masters swimmer in the B-Final of the men's 100 breaststroke - see the article Ande posted above. :)
Outside of an unusually sharp-for-November Lochte and Franklin continuing to set benchmarks on a daily basis, other notable things for me about the Minn GP:
Becca Mann's continued ascension. She absolutely crushed the 200 fly (an event the US women need a lot of help in), easily won the 400 IM, hung in there with Sutton in the 400 free and then broke a monumental 31 year old AG record in the 1650. She looks noticably taller and more muscular than she did at trials just a few months ago. Her starts and turns are still simply awful, lots of room for improvement here. Superstar in the making. She's also writing a fantasy novel about dragons, a detail I enjoy.
Dagny Knutsen winning races. So happy to see her looking healthy, back in action wearing that ASK cap and standing on podiums. The times will come next.
13 year old Michael Andrew dropping a 20.9 in the men's 50 to win the C final. I've never seen anything like it. Let me repeat: sub 21 at 13 years old. Yikes!
Austin Grand Prix looks like it is going to be a pretty small meet this year.

USA SWIMMING ANNOUNCES $150K IN PRIZE MONEY FOR THE 2012-2013 ARENA GRAND PRIX SERIESMakes you wonder if they will loosen the time standards any for the rest of the series? We are looking forward to the Mesa installment here in Arizona, but I, for one, am hoping for a bigger turn out.
Did USA swimming go too fast in the standards or is the meet timing just not right this year?

I think it's a time of year kind of thing and the fact that it's not an Olympic Year. The B standards are around JR National Level. For comparison here's the 2012 AGP Psych Sheet
2012 100 FR womens had 222 entries & men 137 vs 22 & 26 this year, what the heck?
“B” Standards
(entries open one week after “A” Standards open)
Swimmers may qualify for the distance freestyle events with any of the 1650y, 1500m, 1000y, or 800m qualifying standards.
If the entry cap has not been reached, swimmers who are members of USA Swimming with one or more “B”
qualifying standards may enter on a first-come basis beginning one week after the “A” standards open,
and may enter any number of events in which they have a “B” qualifying standard.
If the entry cap has not been reached, entries for foreign swimmers who are not members of USA Swimming
and who have either “A” or “B” qualifying standards will be accepted on a first-come basis beginning
24 hours after the “B” standards open.
B standard times for the Orlando Grand Prix have just been lowered drastically.
www.usaswimming.org/.../Orlando Meet Info Revised B Stds.pdfI would like to encourage Tall Paul to adopt these B standards for the Mesa meet as I could just squeak into the 400 IM.
Nice to see 13 year old phenom Michael Andrew entered in the 100 fly, back and *** as well as the 50 free. His entry times are all from SCY times. 20.8 for the 50. Wow.
