    SANTA CLARA, California, December 22. AT the CA-NV Winter Sectional Championships this week, a foursome from the Aquazot Swim Club downed a U.S. National Age Group record. The quartet of Thomas Smith (51.24), Tyler Lin (57.87), Justin Hanson (52.42) and Matthew Wong (47.92), each 14 years old, downed the boys 13-14 U.S. National Age Group record in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:29.45. That swim smashed the previous record of 3:33.95 set by Rockville-Montgomery's Garrett Powell, Collin Stanhope, Jack Conger and Matthew Gibson back in 2009.
  • At Mutual of Omaha DUEL IN THE POOL on December 16 & 17, 2011 in Atlanta, GA Event 1 the women's 4x100m Medley Relay The WR was 3:47.97 & USA's Natalie COUGHLIN, Rebecca SONI, Dana VOLLMER, & Missy FRANKLIN went 3:45.56 shattering the WR Splits: 0.62 26.98 A 55.97 1.96 30.41 1:02.91 (1) 1:58.88 (pretty sure that RT is real wrong) 0.16 25.71 55.36 (1) 2:54.24 0.41 24.62 51.32 (1) 3:45.56 Later Missy Franklin nearly broke her 200 BK 2:00.03 WR with an impressive 2:00.14. 0.66 RT 28.89 30.41 59.30 30.71 1:30.01 30.13 2:00.14 The surprise of the meet was Caitlin LEVERENZ's 2:04.91 200 IM She came with in .31 of Julia Smit's 2:04.60 WR done DEC 19, 2009 Caitlin swam a blazing breastroke split of 34.50, the rest of the women went 37's & 8's 27.68 32.28 59.96 34.50 1:34.46 30.45 2:04.91
  • Leverenz' swim shouldn't have been too much of a surprise. She won both the 200 IM and 400 IM a couple weeks ago at Nationals.

  • Michael Andrew Breaks Another NAG Record; Suffers Collapsed Lung Michael Andrew, 12 broke the 11-12 NAG in the 200 yard breaststroke at the Polar Beat Meet at the Henley Aquatic Centre in Independence, Missouri with a time of 2:13.33, breaking Tanner Kurz' 2:13.52 time set in 2006.
  • Saw this on the Michigan Masters site: Kevin Doak set two USMS National Records in the 30-34 age group. He broke the the 50 yard Back record of 22.97 by Derya Buyukumcu set back in 2009 with a time of 22.64. In the 100 yard Back, Kevin broke the record of 50.21 by Clay Britt set back in 1992 with a time of 48.93
