  • It's interesting that Georgia had their invitational meet the same weekend as Nationals just down the road in Atlanta. Of course the Georgia meet was SCY and Nationals was LCM. Caitlin Leverenz competed in both meets. (Possibly others did too, but she's the only one that I noticed.)
  • Caitlin Leverenz competed in both meets. (Possibly others did too, but she's the only one that I noticed.) Arianna Vanderpool Wallace was at both meets as well and was swimming against Natalie Coughlin in the 100 Free and went a :46.99 to lose by .15 in the race. She still has the US Open Record at :46.81 if that is any consolation. There were 4 USMS National Records at the ATT Nationals and they were discussed on that thread.
  • Wow, a Sippy Woodhead NAG record falls. I figured it would never happen.
  • Wow, a Sippy Woodhead NAG record falls. I figured it would never happen. Pretty impressive the record stood for that long and then Ledecky smashed it by close to five seconds!
  • Can we do masters? Andrea Block broke two SCM NRs at Long Beach this weekend in the 50-54 age group. 100 fly 1:08.6 (old Laura Val record) and 200 fly 2:33.+ :applaud: Any other records broken at LB? I'm sure there must be.
  • RE Long Beach, Bob Strand took down the world records in the 100 *** (barely) and 200 *** (demolished). He seeded a 1:09.50 for the 100 IM which is under the world record (mine, BTW) but I don't know the results as that was the only event not posted in the results. He's ignoring my calls! Bob had a major operation this summer. His performances at Long Beach are truely remarkable.

  • Diann Uustal clobbered the WR in W65-69 200 SCM back this weekend at the South Carolina Championships meet in Columbia, SC*, posting a 2:53 & change**, versus the old mark of 2:55.02, by Margit Ohlsson of Sweden, which was set just this October 1st. Diann narrowly missed WRs in three other events, missing the mark in the 200 free by only 0.04***. Diann and Margit Ohlsson have quite a duel going on, which should thrill all fans of the sport: They have traded WRs in the 50, 100 & 200 back several times. I don't think this happens all too often in masters swimming, but it is an epic battle and fun to watch! Here is what the world record progressions will look like shortly: 50m Backstroke Women Short Course OHLSSON Margit SWE 36.58 21-03-2010 UUSTAL Diann USA 35.58 19-03-2011 100m Backstroke Women Short Course OHLSSON Margit SWE 01:20.34 21-03-2010 UUSTAL Diann USA 01:19.08 19-03-2011 OHLSSON Margit SWE 01:18.81 30-09-2011 200m Backstroke Women Short Course OHLSSON Margit SWE 02:56.81 20-03-2010 UUSTAL Diann USA 02:56.03 19-03-2011 OHLSSON Margit SWE 02:55.02 01-10-2011 UUSTAL Diann USA 02:53.?? 04-12-2011 Diann will be swimming the 100 back in the NE championships meet this week.
