Erika Braun has broken his own 100m F Record 0:57,89. Age group 45+
  • This girl is something else. I'm presuming she's not a good breaststroker otherwise her IM would be devastating! Yea, she has D1-competitive times in 3 strokes and has range, still a Jr in HS. I wonder where she will commit. She is actually ranked #2 in her recruiting class behind Alex Walsh. I wonder if Walsh gets the edge simply because whatever school gets her will (presumably) have an advantage getting her sister Gretchen as well.
  • Note lead-off split. This is outrageous! The 200 SCY FR must be a totally different animal for these top men, much more like a 100 than a 200 for mortals. Did you watch the relay? What made it even more outrageous is that while viewing, the only indication he was going fast was the HUGE distance between him and second place. The swim made the guys who went 1:31/1:32 leading off that heat look pedestrian.
  • Claire Curzan of the TAC Titans has broken several for the 13-14 age group in the past month. I'm going off of memory, but I believe she got the SCY records for the 100 Free, 200 Back, 100 Fly, and 200 Fly at the senior sectionals meet a few weeks ago. She missed in the 50 free and 100 back. So she swam those at the age goup sectionals meet a couple of weeks ago. I got to see her become the first 13-14 girl to ever go under 22 in the 50 free.......beating of my daughter's friends, who finished second, by 2 seconds. She missed the 100 back record, going a 51.23, beating my daughter, who finished second, by 4.7 seconds (but my daughter got her first Winter Junior cut at a 55.98!). Congrats to your daughter!

The swim made the guys who went 1:31/1:32 leading off that heat look pedestrian. Yea, you have to remind yourself that other guys are seriously fast. That kind of separation is something you see at an A/BB/C meet. Did Franklin have that kind of separation in her landmark 1:39.1? I have seen the race video and recall that it was a breathtaking performance, but I can't find it on the web now.
  • 200 yards is now a sprint. The race in the 200 free is going to be awesome.
  • Not record times but a "record" triple. Andrew Seliskar wins the 200 IM, 200 BR and 200 Free at NCAAs. Has anyone else won the 200 Free and the 200 BR?
  • And on the Masters front - over the weekend, Tom Shields broke the 25-29 200 fly record by over 7 seconds, going 1:40.29 at the Pacific Masters Championships! He went faster than the M25-29 record, but did he break the record (i.e. his swim is being reported as an Exhibition swim and the results say Exh as well)?
