Endless Pool Workouts

Does anyone have any good suggestions for workouts using an "Endless Pool" Right now I am taking some regular yardage based workouts and using them with time, ie: a 4x50 would be a 4 x 1minute. The tricky part is doing a workout such as 4x50 @ 1:00 - how does that convert? I would be interested to hear from other Endless Pool owners on their workout programs.
  • There have been a number of threads about this, recently. The one I can remember is An Endless Pools Thank You. In the upper right corner, under "Discussion Forums", use the "Search" for the word "endless". That seemed to work pretty well. (Unless someone was complaining that swimming laps indoors seemed endless... :D )

I have checked out the posts for Endless Pool, meaning the product. Although some of them address the Endless Pool product, there are also some that talk about the seeming endless training in the pool. What I am looking for is some recommendations for workouts using the Endless Pool (the product). Does anyone have some or suggestions when you don't have a wall every 25 or 50 yards/meters.

What a wonderful problem to have. The Endless pool is on my dream list, near the top but my wait for the money to get one seems to be endless ! As i see it, you are looking for a way to have a normal interval set, with goal times, rest periods etc. How do you swim say an 8 by 100m with 20 seconds rest and negative split on times. How do you know what your pace is etc. The pacing you can do by varying the strength of the current. Can you figure out what setting on the dial equates to say your 100m race time, cruise time and recovery time. Make a chart of the dial settings for say 1 min = 100m, 1:10 +100m, 1:20 = 100m, 1:30 = 100m, 1:40 =100m etc. Then go out and buy the ' Aquapacer ' learn how to operate it and you can do everything else. You can even design your whole workout on the computer, with goal times, rest periods, interval sets, stroke rates etc. Then you can download that onto the 'aquapacer', wear it on your goggle strap aand away it goes. The audible bleep it produces will guide your stroke rate, show rest periods etc. Look for: www.aquapacer.com Let me know how you do.

Thanks for the suggestion on the Aquapacer. I think that I have figured out a method. I use two primary means of gaging the workout either straight time interval or stroke count. I invested in a pace clock that I can see in the pool. I use the pace clock for timed intervals. So instead of a 4x50@ 1:00. I would do a 4x1:00 w/ 15 sec rest. Or I count the strokes - like 4 x 25 strokes @ 1:15. If you do get the Endless Pool unit, make sure you get the digital swim gage. It gives you a means of very precisely targeting the current speed. So you can do warm ups at one setting - build sets allow no cheating - reverse tapers are also targeted. Although the digital swim gage gives you a precise reading, it does vary with your distance from the outlet - so it should be viewed as a relative versus an absolute measure of your swim speed. I welcome any additional suggestions. What about the rest of you owners of the Endless Pools? What are your favorite workouts?
