Butterfly, beautiful to watch, difficult to train.
We SDK off every wall.
We're most likely to smack hands with each other and those beside us.
Fly's fun to sprint but no fun when the piano comes down
What did you do in practice today?

Way to go Elaine !!
I did my 1,000 today too!!
I earned my Christmas sugar cookie.
My Guy,I will try the three kick stroke another time.
Thanks for the challenge Elaine!!
Congratulations, Yosemite! :applaud: :cheerleader: :thewave:
I'm glad to hear you gave it another shot! You can be proud of yourself for not settling and giving it another go. And, YES, you earned a sugar cookiee, at least! :chug:
So, how long did it take you? I'll bet you beat my time!

How about joining me for an end-of-the-year 1000 fly ...
:chug:
How about a 1650?
500 split = 8:48 (1:45.6 per 100)
1000 split (8:48 + 9:04) = 17:52 (1:47.2 per 100)
1650 final time = 29:44 ... made it under 30! :bliss: (1:48.1 per 100)
The last 200 was exciting (for me): I turned a few seconds before 26:00 with just over 4 minutes left to break 30 minutes. I only had to do the last 200 fly in under 4:00. All turns were legal! No vid, but there were witnesses.
I cannot think of any reason to swim that far butterfly except for trolling the other swimmers. What a hoot!

WooooHOOOOO Swimosaur! :thewave: :cheerleader:
And, definitely: :chug:
You rocked that 1650! When I swam 2000, my 1650 split was 37:39. Although I would normally put a "" next to that, I was just happy I had made it that far and wanted to keep going! :banana:You were awesome!:applaud:
Way to go, Swimosaur! I owe you a :chug: at Auburn!
I did the 1000 fly today. Final time was 15:23. I don't know the splits but I'm pretty sure it wasn't negative. Here's how it went.
25 yds - Piece of cake! I can do this all day.
200 yds - Not feeling so bad. 500 should be easy.
350 yds - This is a STUPID challenge
450 yds - 500 fly is a loooong way. I'll just stop there. Most people never even attempt 500 yds of fly. That's good enough.
525 yds - Why didn't I stop? I could have stopped. I can't stop now because no reasonable person would quit on a number of lengths not divisible by 10. Great... that means I'm stuck till 750 yds.
750 yds - I hate Elaine. I hate Elaine. I hate Elaine. I hate Elaine.
900 yds - Might as well finish now... we do 100 fly in practice all the time!
1000 yds - Not so bad. I bet I could make 1650!
I was hoping I could hold a 1:30 pace but that didn't happen. Pretty sure I was fine on that through 500 yds. Really started going vertical at times on the second 500.

If I attempted that pace, I would hate me, too! :agree: Holy :censor: ; I can't even swim 1000 free that fast! The last time I tried it I swam it in 16:00.
Congratulations, Peter! Now, don't you feel better knowing you accomplished that? :bolt:
Thinking of "That Guy," if he was ever unable to get to the pool due to snow :D

I love that video; what a hoot! That Guy, you should give it a go and post your own video!
Congratulations, Peter! Now, don't you feel better knowing you accomplished that? :bolt:Always feels good to accomplish a goal! And the "hate" was only temporary. It helped me focus my pain somewhere else. Our long workouts definitely helped me get through this. But the high intensity workouts we have been doing lately were huge. I was able to get 2 sdks off each wall which really dropped my stroke count. All that fin work has been paying off!
