Let's talk swim strokes.

I get tired of reading what I call silly posts. I would rather read about stroke technique, and east swim workout ideas. Being an older person I do not want to over work out. I would rather talk stroke, stroke, stroke. I do not want to die trying to be fast fast, fast.

I am starting a training regimin here in Vancouver and going to head to Apache Junction Arizona, for Feb 16th if I can workout enough to to some racing the goal is the May meet in Arizona and maybe a couple of others. George, you are so funny. When are we all going to get to meet you in person? Will you be attending any swim meets in the US?

I get tired of reading what I call silly posts I couldn't agree with you more!!!! What really irks me are those that talk about going to Mexico and drink maragritas. Or those who try to sell stuff on the forum. How the heck is that relevant to stroke, stroke, stroke? Keep up the vigilance. This forum is out of control.

Recommendation re breaststroke kic., Never swim that silly stroke it could be injurious to your wellbeing. Has George become a triathlete in his dotage? :bolt: Methinks George is trying to provoke some "silliness" with his open ended rant. If you have a specific topic regarding the broad category of stroke technique, why not start with that? I'll start. Not that I'm willing to devote any time to changing it at the moment, but is it possible to improve one's breaststroke kick? And, if so, how? That's the weakest element of any of my strokes.

If you notice, when I swim up to the swim up bar I use a high elbow recovery and I finish very aggresively. I couldn't agree with you more!!!! I prefer to knock down Margaritas, I don't like to knock down "TI". Yes, but TI is silly so that is out. :)

Sorry I missed this til now:yes.See my posts on drills in "the Breaststroke Lane" especially the 2" kick, ankle snap only kick, and eggbeater kick drills. From what I read in the thread about them the breaststroke fins may help. Also, there is no substitute for doing the kick regularly in workouts(just not so much that your knees hurt.)

Allen my knees hurt all the time so I never do breaststroke kick. I am becoming my father, when I stand up it almost causes me to lunge accross the room. I don't mind doing arms only breaststroke as a warmup stroke Sorry I missed this til now:yes.See my posts on drills in "the Breaststroke Lane" especially the 2" kick, ankle snap only kick, and eggbeater kick drills. From what I read in the thread about them the breaststroke fins may help. Also, there is no substitute for doing the kick regularly in workouts(just not so much that your knees hurt.)
  • To improve my BR kick, when I am at the gym I use the machine that you pull your knees/thighs inward till the pads touch. This seems to strengthen my BR kick. I do 2 X 20 @ 80 lbs.
