Yes, but for some of us that work and work at places where we can't satisfy our swimming fix, I want to be able to DVR it and watch it when I get home from work. :badday:
If it makes you feel any better, I had meetings from 10-12 PDT and didn't get to see any swimming during that time. Now I am watching, but all that's left are the early heats of the W 800 free and the M 1500 free (seeded fast to slow, so each heat is less interesting than the last one). Not exactly riveting stuff.
Andrew Gemmell put out a superb 1500 this morning. Bravo. If he is the third American to place top 8 in the timed final, does that count for placing or whatever?
Yes the evening finals on Thursday and Friday are televised live on the Universal Sports cable channel. Many cable carriers have it. Some may have it but not realize it. I definitely prefer this to the NBC packaged and recorded coverage.
Hmm, not according to Universal Sports website. They are rebroadcasting Wed coverage on Thursday but there is no swimming coverage on US on Friday.
That just sucks, I don't care if it's broadcast rights, etc. It doesn't look like Thursday or Friday coverage is on any broadcast channel so I guess I don't get that one.
Is there something wrong with Thursday and Friday that there is no coverage? US has been great about covering every day of national meets so this really seems strange. Seriously, Phelps is swimming the 400 IM on Thursday after saying 'never again' that right there should rate some coverage

swimnetwork.com's front page says that Pan Pac coverage begins at 10 AM PDT this morning. I'm not sure if that means streaming video but I intend to find out!

Reckon this may have something to do with television rights? Similar situation @ US Nationals when they broadcasted Days 1 & 2 live on Universal Sports TV (owned by NBC, I believe) during the week, but then nothing on the telly until the NBC recap broadcasts over the weekend (they did televise Day 3 & 4 on Universal the following week).

btw I still haven't found a final or even updated/revised psych sheet other than the draft version released on 12 August...which has Steph Rice swimming both IMs, Phelps doing the 100 free, Chloe Sutton on the 1500, & Jessica Hardy the 100 ***...
Hardy will almost definitely swim the 100 ***. If she drops a race that session it would likely be the 100 free.

The two NBC "re-air" segments will at least be in HD for those who can view it (i.e. mostly American audiences)...but betcha they won't show all the A finals, almost never B finals, tend to ignore the middle parts of the distance races (i.e. show adverts in the middle of the 1500 or on occasion even the 800 free!), focus on Phelps or other superstars that the non-swimming community are more familiar with (understandably so...I guess), and worst of all, it isn't LIVE :badday:
Well at least swimnetwork will as usual have full streaming live coverage of both prelims and finals, though as was noted this doesn't help those who can't easily access the web @ work.

The official site @ www.panpacificswimming.com/ doesn't even have the team rosters for either Australia or the States, and this an hour before the heats are presently due to begin!
Anyway, for start lists and results/rankings (the link is for all events, you can sort it by day as well):

Some interesting predictions:

Hardy will almost definitely swim the 100 ***. If she drops a race that session it would likely be the 100 free.I really hope you're right on this, but not looking so good for the 100 *** judging from the start list for tomorrow's morning heats here: www.omegatiming.com/.../C51A1_SLHeats_13_Heats_Women_100_Breast.pdf
She is, however, listed for the 100 free: www.omegatiming.com/.../C51A1_SLHeats_11_Heats_Women_100_Free.pdf
Think it's been conjectured in some quarters that Hardy may still be a wee psychologically fragile from her fears of not living up to expectations in an event that many has considered her signature one (100 *** as she holds the WR in it), as witness her apparent self-destruction in this and the 50 free @ the US Nationals recently, and her relatively weak times when facing her teammate Soni @ Mare Nostrum earlier this summer. Have also heard that her coach Dave Salo wants her to at least swim the double in the morning heats (100 free & ***) in order to confront her fears directly, and only then decide whether to scratch one of them for the finals (since she is physically quite capable of achieving a stellar time in both events at this point in her training).
But I can understand why Jessica might want to conserve her reserves by focussing solely on the 100 free, especially after how well she did at nationals in this particular event. And I wish her the best in whichever event(s) she'll end up racing in!
