Hardy will almost definitely swim the 100 ***. If she drops a race that session it would likely be the 100 free.I really hope you're right on this, but not looking so good for the 100 *** judging from the start list for tomorrow's morning heats here: www.omegatiming.com/.../C51A1_SLHeats_13_Heats_Women_100_Breast.pdf She is, however, listed for the 100 free: www.omegatiming.com/.../C51A1_SLHeats_11_Heats_Women_100_Free.pdf Think it's been conjectured in some quarters that Hardy may still be a wee psychologically fragile from her fears of not living up to expectations in an event that many has considered her signature one (100 *** as she holds the WR in it), as witness her apparent self-destruction in this and the 50 free @ the US Nationals recently, and her relatively weak times when facing her teammate Soni @ Mare Nostrum earlier this summer. Have also heard that her coach Dave Salo wants her to at least swim the double in the morning heats (100 free & ***) in order to confront her fears directly, and only then decide whether to scratch one of them for the finals (since she is physically quite capable of achieving a stellar time in both events at this point in her training). But I can understand why Jessica might want to conserve her reserves by focussing solely on the 100 free, especially after how well she did at nationals in this particular event. And I wish her the best in whichever event(s) she'll end up racing in!
