Yes the approach was very well conceived.
Unfortunately, the fact that compartmentalized excersize had little to no impact on heart risk rates for the majority of office/sedentary workers was frightening.
I could be wrong but I don't think that is what the research showed. I think the research showed that even if you exercise regularly you will be at increased risk due to excessive sitting relative to someone who exercises regularly and doesn't sit a lot. Someone who sits excessively and exercises will still benefit relative to someone who sits excessively and doesn't exercise regularly.
Lindsay, yes, which is why I ended my sentence suggesting we sedentary office sitters (8 hrs/day/week) may not be getting the full benefit that someone in an "active job" like a warehouse worker might get.

So am I to take away from this that even though I workout an extra 20-30 hours (minimum) per week on top of my 40(ish) hour per week daytime job sitting at a computer all day - that because I'm not constantly moving - its actually not really doing me a lot of good?
Sitting 23 hours a week is not a whole lot. I guess I'm pretty much screwed. Oh well.
In any case, I think I'm going to have to use the phrase "biological MEAT-ORGANS" in conversation sometime.

Be sure to emphasize MEAT-ORGANS so people know its capitalized in your mind when using it in conversation.
