Is there one? If so I couldn't find it, but want to say thanks to Ande for the swim faster faster tips and the ask Ande advice, and to the rest of you for being here with lots of interesting tips and articles to read, and my parents, my sister and her dog.....sorry I digress.... But seriously, being able to read and post and get some good advice has really motivated me to get back in the pool this spring/summer and to enter the summer league meets with my daughter. We had a great morning on Saturday, she won her backstroke, made the A qualifying time in her breaststroke, while I came in second - less than 1sec behind a 19yr old on my 100 free and did a very respectable 32.46 on 50fly. The ab work, SDK work and lots of kicking has really helped and I've only been at it a few weeks. So thanks guys :applaud::applaud::applaud:
  • Fully agreed! I've read through Swim Faster Faster several times, I bought Swim Anatomy, and Mastering Swimming, and I push myself EVERY SINGLE practice because I really want to be good! (Well .... better). So thank you Ande! Your tips and advice has pushed at least this novice in a brand new direction in life (completely new direction). And thank you Louise for being cogent enough to realize that we should probably have this kind of thread! -Michael P.
  • I really want to get my breakouts better and I've been swimming without fins alot more now to get more strength, like Ande suggested. On the 200 IM back to *** turn, Ande I saw you did a flip. Did you touch on your back or crossover and touch? I'm going to try the flip in workouts, but I think my open turn is faster right now. I agree, I'm inspired when I read SFF. Thank-you, Ande!
  • YES, thanx ANDE for all the info we can get from you ! :applaud::applaud:
  • You're welcome. I wanted to share what I know, what I've learned & gathered about swimming. As far as I'm concerned I'm still learning. I hope to make Swim Faster Faster a book but I didn't want to let the information just sit on my hard drive till that happened. So I put it on this message board with an index that I update. I've used the ideas to help myself swim faster faster. They've allowed me to shift from being a top 10 swimmer in 2004 to breaking records in 2008, 9 & 10. I also really enjoy SFF sessions where I work one on one with a swimmer. We talk about what they want to improve. I'll test their ability & look for instant improvement opportunities. Let them rest a bit. Then give them a few short instructions & immediately retest. Most importantly each swimmer swims away with a list of things to work on and a plan of attack. The biggest problem with the SFF Tips is there are so many of them. It can be confusing to figure out where to begin or which ones to work on first. That's one of the reasons I created ASK ANDE, so I could field questions and individual cases. Everyone can improve. It's most fun when it happens INSTANTLY! Technique, Mental Techniques like getting in Ideal Performance State (IPS) or getting psyched, equipment, & correct splitting are often ways to instantly improve. Some take a few weeks. Like Tapering, weight loss, & performance projects. Some take months seasons & years. Again you are welcome. I hope they help you swim faster faster and please let me know when they do Take care, Ande Plus swimmers can read my blogs and find out what I did today or what I did across a Current: Started Jan 2009 Sep 2008 - Jan 2009 Mar 2005 - Sep 2008 Is there one? • Hey NancyK, Start a project to work on your breakouts.
