Looks like we might know the details in the next few days. Should be interesting. DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- The head of swimming's governing body predicted Wednesday "a step forward" in rules governing high-performance suits used in setting more than 100 world records in the past year. FINA president Mustapha Larfaoui gave no details of decisions that could be made during a three-day executive meeting beginning Thursday, but his comments suggested that the organization would follow through with recommendations last month to place limits that include suits' thickness and buoyancy... technology- 1. the use of scientific knowledge to solve practical problems, esp. in industry and commerce. 2. The methods and materials used to solve practical problems. Yep, the tech suit qualifies. You can use academic "Literalspeak" reasoning such invoking the technical definition of much overused words, but that doesn't change the real issue in this discussion. :blah: However, if glorifying your overhyped, over-priced swim suit gives you a warm feeling of confidence and contentment, then maybe ignorant bliss is in fact a good thing afterall. :2cents: Dolphin 2
  • Hey pwolf66: I didn't mention any names, but it looks like I "Hit a nerve" with someone who might have had a guilty conscience. Sorry for "Smoking you out" anyway. Guilty conscience? Seriously, are you for real? Don't give yourself that much credit. No really, don't. Did you comprehend the definition of the word 'paragraph'? Because I seem to remember your whining that one of my posts needed paragraphs because I put two related sentences together. BTW, those were 2 related sentences so there was no need for a paragraph. Hey, since you don't have anything better to do, why don't you drive down to Fresno the weekend of May 10th. I'll even buy you a beer. Oh that's right, you ride a 1962 Schwinn as a protest against those horrible technological advances called automobiles.

...doesn't change the real issue in this dicussion. :blah: Dolphin 2 That you can't spell "discussion" or that you don't have a freaking clue about competitive swimming?

That you can't spell "discussion" or that you don't have a freaking clue about competitive swimming? Hey thewookiee: There are a lot of people on this board who don't use correct grammar (or use the ENTER key to space paragraphs so everything isn't run on) so my occasional sin of mispselling doesn't amount to that much. :bitching: By the way, can a new method of ripping off consumers (and creating a whole new class of suckers) be considered a form of “technology”? If you look at the literal effect, paying out over $400 for an LZR definitely makes your wallet lighter and that contributes to the fuel efficiency of cars and planes. By the reasoning above, sub-prime mortgages, worthless securities, toxic assets, and over hyped and over priced swim suits may in fact qualify as a new form of technology!!! Dolphin 2

Galen- What the hell are you talking about? Karen, Your previous post flushed his gripes about the suits down the drain. Now, he is just ranting to rant. He doesn't understand the side of competitive swimming, so he makes pointless comments that have no backing.
  • Hulk makes a good point, D2. You should go to Fresno so you can experience swimming, it might open your eyes a bit.

Dolphin 2 No, it's not a sin, but it is fun to bust on you when you screw-up. Which, on your reasonings against tech suits, is all the time. The suits are not ripping off customers that use them. If the customer uses the suit and enjoys using them, then they aren't being ripped off. Now say it this with me "com·pet·i·tive swimming" Do you understand the words? No,that's ok, maybe one day you will be able too. Then your opinion on tech suits will be based on trying out "com·pet·i·tive swimming"

Hey thewookiee Using a so called low drag suit to purportedly swim faster is not competitive swimming, it's competitive spending. In the old school of thinking, this kind of fad was called "Keeping up with the Joneses". Dolphin 2

Hey thewookiee Using a so called low drag suit to purportedly swim faster is not competitive swimming, it's competitive spending. Dolphin 2 Actually, it is competitive swimming. The suit of choice for a swimmer, is just one of the many things that goes into that swimmers preparing for a meet. But since you only noodle around a pool, we shouldn't expect you to understand what goes into preparing for races.
