One 100 free to go in set. Two open lanes.(no lane lines in pool) Noodler comes over to stand in my lane to talk with friend. Pool is set at 85 degrees cause all the noodlers say it is to cold otherwise. I complain to guard, am told, "well there are a lot more of them then there are lap swimmers" Wont be if they keep this up. UGH! :frustrated:

I have joined the noodlers at my pool after an injury that prevents me from swimming more then a couple of laps.I do feel somewhat like an invader of their space, because I bring the same intesnity to my noodle workout that I had for my swimming.Call me noodler all you want-but when I spend an hour in the pool my sole purpose is to kick my heart into action with the limited mobility I have. Plus,I have a sneaky feeling that I'm burning more calories doing that, then half the swimmers doing their slow and steady laps over in the lap lanes. "Sidelined Swimmer=Temporary Noodler"

"Sidelined Swimmer=Temporary Noodler" As I mentioned before I'm not against noodlers. I'm against noodlers and swimmers on one lane. I'm actually against slow and fast swimmers on the same lane and it's not something I have against slow or fast swimmers. IMO such separation to slow and fast lanes in the pool would simplify life for everyone. Actually there's something I hate more than swimmer and noodler on the same lane: and that is a slow swimmer who accelerates when you overtake him. That actually creates extremely dangerous situation when you actually can injure another swimmer moving opposite direction and yourself. These people know they are slow swimmers but don't want recognize that and absolutely don't think about others.

I don't know why people try to speed up when you are lapping them, obviously you're going faster in order to catch up and get on their feet! I also dislike it when you're on someones feet and close to the wall and they go ahead and turn instead of waiting to let you get around them. I swim with tons of people who are faster than me, if I behaved like that they'd probably kick me out of the lane.
  • At one of my pools the :censor: noodlers just got the pool closed to all others during their classes.I asked why ,since there had always been a designated lap lane separated by a lane line that is never removed ,and was told that they had been complaining that they were getting splashed. My goodness, imagine that, getting wet in a pool.

Allen When I belonged to Club Sport I got dirty looks from a number of noodlers when my near-perfect recovery (lol!) caused a little bit of water to come off my fingertips. They even started to splash me as I came by. They got ME wet. Oh the horror.

I did not go through all comments, but when our YMCA would not lower the temp of the pool, we approached them with the SAFETY issue. I emailed the link below and explained that it is hazardous to work out in warm water. Our YMCA adjusted the temp between 81 - 83 (not great, but much better). www.cbsnews.com/8301-504763_162-20020648-10391704.html
  • they don't want to get splashed for they know urine is part of the pool water solution. A class of manatees aerobics with gallon sized coffee mugs on the side and the effort it takes to carry that mass on to land and in to the bathroom creates a pool of pee

Don't you think it's a bit inconsistent?

Perhaps swimmers should start to complain because every silly action of the noodlers in the pool to start to look right in the eyes of the pool officials. :bitching:

My goodness, imagine that, getting wet in a pool. :bighug: I know, King Frog, I know; you have my sympathies. As you know from my posts on this thread and prior discussions at Nationals, I have been dealing with the same :censor: at my pool. For awhile, we were all getting a long just fine. I stayed in one of the two swim lanes and the noodlers (all 0-5 that typically attend class) had the remaining 3 lanes (22' x 75') of space. But, a couple of the ladies who hadn't participated in awhile returned more power hungry than ever and started a new campaign to get us swimmers kicked out of the pool during their classes. Horror of all horrors, the swimmers were getting their hair wet! So, their new tactic is to form a charter club which gives them higher priority for exclusive use of facilities for their activities. They presented their case and we presented ours, back in mid-April. Now we await the decision of the board... :shakeshead: It seems to me that our situations are playing out in pools across America. I wonder if noodlers are this obnoxious in other countries. :worms:
