One 100 free to go in set. Two open lanes.(no lane lines in pool) Noodler comes over to stand in my lane to talk with friend. Pool is set at 85 degrees cause all the noodlers say it is to cold otherwise. I complain to guard, am told, "well there are a lot more of them then there are lap swimmers" Wont be if they keep this up. UGH! :frustrated:

Tell them to wear shower caps to keep their hair dry.
Fill their milk jugs with cement!!!
I complain that the noodlers don't take showers & wash all the HAIR - BODY - ARMPIT - CROTCH SPRAYS INTO MY WATER THAT I PUT MY FACE INTO!!!
I have to agree with George on this one. Pools aren't built for Masters teams. Unless you practice in a dedicated club/university facility, continued griping about noodlers, while amusing, is rather pointless.
Well, I would agree with both of you, if the pool where I swim wasn't a private community pool. But, our pool is at the amenity center in a private community where every household pays the same monthly HOA fee to use the shared facilities. The indoor swimming pool is a unique individual resource, as opposed to the multiple meeting rooms at the amenity center. If a chartered club is using one meeting room, there are other places to meet, including other meeting rooms, the lobby, patio, somebody's home; heck, they can even gather in the parking lot! But, we have one indoor 25 yard long x 5 lane wide swimming pool for the entire community to share. And, it is the only pool available for most of the year, in the entire area, for miles around, since our outdoor pool is closed for most of the year. For an average of 0-5 noodlers (the average class attendance) to have exclusive use of that asset, Monday thru Friday, for two hours each day (which is what they have been demanding), during prime time, is illogical, unfair, unnecessary; I could go on. It is WRONG.
Swimmers, including me, are not demanding exclusive use; we only want to preserve the two lanes we currently have to swim in and will continue to happily relinquish those lanes during their classes when swimmers are not present. But, when swimmer arrives, we would like a lane back, please! :bitching:
I hear you EK. But, noodlers demanding all the lane space and/or hot water when you live in a retirement community can't be that much of a surprise. That's like going to a liquor store and being upset that they sell liquor. And, it is really irrelevant how close other pools are when you knew that going in.
It's not that I don't sympathize with your situation. I just have enough experience with this to know when it's time to cut bait and move on.
So I am supposed to shampoo my hair before and after workout? I put my cap on dry hair too - 99% of the people I swim with do the same. I think we could make the arguement that people must shower before getting in the pool, but shampooing the hair probably won't fly. (Especially since the noodler's goal is to keep the hair dry.)
I complain that the noodlers don't take showers
Excellent idea - if there are people going into your pool with dry, unshowered hair, that is a public health issue. Your board can't really afford to ignor complaints about that.

Already did. And, as Allen and his wife, Carol, can tell you from their personal experience, noodlers do not respond well to rational, logical, common sense suggestions.
In my experience, it's all about power and control. Most of the noodlers are just fine with sharing the pool with swimmers and they are on our side of the debate. They stay quiet, however, to keep peace in the pool. But, there are a couple of those playground bullies who never grew out of their bullying. Emotionally and intellectually, they never graduated school. And, it doesn't matter what activity they do or group they join; it will always be about control and getting their way. :bitching:
Be nice to the Noodlers and the Bleach bottle exercisors. They are the only reason most pools are open. They pay and to keep the pools open so YOU ungrateful people have a place to practice.

Can you imagine what their behavior is like at the assisted living facility? There are some mean and unpleasant people out there, and as they get older they just meaner and more unpleasant.
