I see a lot of forum members from my general area and am wondering if any of you are going to the meet in Richmond on February 9 and 10. I feel like I almost know some of you even though all I really know about you is whether or not you feel like Dara Torres is doping and what your swimming pet peeves are.
(Or maybe it is cowardice, I always get so confused on that point.)
Chris
I am right there with you. I have been swimming for slightly over a year now and signed up for the 500 since I can't seem to break 30 for the 50 anything. I also signed up for the 200 br, the 200 fr and the 50 fr. This is the meet where I finally break :30. My flip turns are somewhat reliable and I seem to be able to swim :32s and :33s in practice with a push off.
Congratulations on your record setting performances in December. One of the guys I swim with watched you swim.
I am looking forward to this meet since I have not competed since the GMU Sprint Meet.
T.J.
not likely for me. lots of meets going on, UMD bball game on the evening of the 9th.
Unfortunately, they don't televise too many New Mexico Lobos' games. And it's a long drive to go watch them play. So, I'll occupy my time, and my OCD:D, with a swim meet instead.
Looking forward to meeting you julieopl!
I'm debating it. Guess it depends on how I do this weekend in my quest to get 2 more NQTs for SCY Nats. What's the pool like there? Is it a fast pool? Slow? In the middle?
Don't really want to spend the night as I will not be swimming any of the Saturday events and the idea of getting up at 5am on a Sunday is not very appealing.
Paul
I'll be there, not sure what I'm swimming but will be there both days.
You've become a meet addict. I think I know why. ;)
Not coming. No meets until March 15; family needs a break. Although one year I'd really like to go to this meet.

Pretty fast, I think; lots of USS meets held at this pool. It is the home pool of NOVA, which is a pretty big/fast club.
Fairly deep the whole way (can't stand anywhere, at any rate). Walls are a little slippery so you have to makes sure you push straight off; it will only be an issue at one end b/c of the touchpads at the other. There is a separate 10 lane 25y pool for warm-up/warm-down.
The worst part of the pool is the locker rooms...!

I'll be there; it is in my home pool.
This time I successfully resisted the urge to enter the 200 back/400IM/500 free triple on Saturday (dropped the IM). Wisdom does, indeed, come with age. (Or maybe it is cowardice, I always get so confused on that point.)
Chris
In just six short days, I will get to experience my first ever 500 free. I am nervous about going out too fast since that has been my tendency in practices (regardless of the workout). All I can hope is that I beat my seed time. That's a whole lot of laps. Good thing someone will count for me!:applaud:
I will also swim the 200 br, the 50 fr, the 200 fr and the 50 bk. The 200 br and the 50 fr are the events I'm hoping to smoke on Sunday. I have yet to break :30 for the 50 fr and I've been hitting :31 mids on a push in practice. :drown:
What is everyone else swimming?

WHATEVER YOU DO....DO NOT GO OUT TOO FAST! I can't tell you how many times I have been standing behind the blocks telling myself just that and then 200 yards later I think to myself "Darn, you went out too fast!" It really makes for a LONG race. You'd think I would have learned by now.
Sadly, I will not be swimming in the meet. I broke my foot on Wednesday. I'll still be there to watch the Chris vs. Jeff 400 IM on Saturday and your 500 free. Look for the girl with the boot on her left leg...that's me :)
