It's not going to be as interesting as Ande's but I realized when I was powerlifting 10 years ago that this is the best way for me to track and evaluate my progress so here it is.

    Good swims. Thanks for posting the backstroke video. I am in lane 4.
  • Monday: No workout, recovery from meet Tuesday: No workout - had to go to work early, grrrrrrr Wednesday - no practice on Wednesdays, GRRRRRRRRR. Tomorrow: I'm swimming tomorrow come heck or high water, dammit.
  • Thomas: Sorry I didn't introduce myself. That weekend I was in a fog. Fort: I SAID no comments on the start. Grrrrrrr. But you're right about the SR. In the race I don't feel like it's that slow but the video don't lie. Plus I need to really improve my underwater work. I came up way too early off the turn. Paul

My regular starts are not so great either. And this situation is not helped by the fact that my pool is closed for swim meets both weekends before my meet. Grrr. Aside from being great fun, I think that monofin that's on your xmas list will help your underwater work significantly. Plus, great for the core and legs.

Paul Paul...this will make you feel better...there are some other vids including Fort doing 50 back here too.

Hey man, you should have come over to UMD last night - we (ok, well, those of us who are physically able to do so) worked on breaststroke all evening. I did a lot of *** w/ dolphin kick and were my abs sore or what! OK, I have to confess. I'm a wuss. I find myself dropping out of sets when it starts to get tough. I have got to work on getting tougher mentally and pushing thru it. Otherwise I am just wasting my time and that is not what I want to do. Work hard and keep yourself in the water as long as you can. If you find yourself dropping behind in a longer set, *consider* skipping a 50, only if you promise to do the entire rest of workout and make that 50 up at the end. Hang tight and deal with the pain and agony, and at some point in the next month, you WILL have a breakthrough where suddenly you find yourself w/ a second wind at the end. That is the best feeling. -jeff
