I could feel the darn thing coming on all weekend. I started taking Cold FX yesterday but this morning when the alarm went off I thought no way as I cannot breathe and feel yucky.
Do you swim with a cold or am I being a big baby?

All the time. If I waited to be healthy, I'd never get wet. Swam my first ever 1500 free with walking pneumonia.
Well just returned from Dr. I have a bad cold and a very bad case of swimmers ear. TOLD no swimming for a week. I have ear drop antibiotics. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I'd probably swim with a cold, but not right after decapitation (sorry, guess that's the cold medicine talking).
And if you think about all the excretions that end up in a pool, and what body parts the water is swishing in and around, snot is going to be the least of your worries.
This reminds me of some "baby" friends of mine who can't believe I swim in a pool that hosts a lot of "old people" water aerobic classes. They talk about weak bladders, flaking skin, etc. I tell them that's what chlorine is for. Been doing it for some time now and haven't caught anything yet. I think I'm more at risk getting cold/flu germs from the gym equipment than from the pool.
:groovy:
Okay, all you "I"ll swim with a cold because...I'm tough/addicted to swimming/it clears my sinuses...
Fine for the first two reasons, but the third is unsanitary and selfish. The rest of the team/public gets to swim in your snot trails and breathe your germs - which, BTW, love the pool's hot, moist environment...do us all a favor and get your endorphin high another way until you're non-contagious.
I would swim with a col without a doubt, depending on when your next meet is. The point of swimming is to build strength, get broken down, rest, then repeat. If you have a cold during your broken down state, which is most likely, all the better. swim through it, come out stronger than ever when you rest.
Of course I swim with a cold. Or fevers, cuts, bruises, tiredness, aches, pains, before surgery, after surgery (especially against the Doctor's orders), cold water, warm water, before eating, after eating, etc.
With a cold, I may not swim fast and I usually don't swim as far, but I always feel better for having swam!

I can't speak for anyone else, buti don't blow snot in the pool. Actually, no snot builds up at all, which is the whole point of it.

Swimlong. Boy you made me laugh . Okay I wont let anyone swim in my snot. The thing is I really don't feel well enough to swim. I am so congested and my ear is sore and I am not sleeping. Though I really do miss the swimming. I will head back Monday.
Thanks for everyones input
What a baby I am LOL

If it is a chest cold then I will rest. A head cold I go on and swim. Swimming seems to help drain the sinuses for me. I too have fought off several colds by swimming, even if it is doing easy sets. If I feel one coming on, I take extra vitamin C.
Same here. It works for running, too. The best for clearing sinuses is a OW (salt water) swim.
