I could feel the darn thing coming on all weekend. I started taking Cold FX yesterday but this morning when the alarm went off I thought no way as I cannot breathe and feel yucky.
Do you swim with a cold or am I being a big baby?
Katie
Well just returned from Dr. I have a bad cold and a very bad case of swimmers ear. TOLD no swimming for a week. I have ear drop antibiotics. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Katie
Oh no! Sorry to hear about the ear. I hope it clars up soon.
Alison
You do start out the race the same way--that is, wondering why the :censor: you signed up to swim the darn thing. But, after settling in it's not so bad.:whiteflag:
I 100% agree.

I was at the same meet. I scratched my 400 free. I was exhausted after my 800 free and 400 IM on Sat. I swam the 1500 free and 200 fly on Sunday and it all went down hill! It was a great meet and I did enjoy racing in the IUPUI pool.
Imspoiled...wow...:notworthy:
I scratched out of the 1500 yesterday b/c the 800 hurt too bad the day before. I feel like such a wimp now.
That's not to say my time was impressive, but I needed to do it and they only offer it at one meet per year locally, so...
Not sure that I would do the 800/1500 on the same day or back-to-back days. The longer distances do take their toll.
You should try the 1500 though. It's a different race than the 800. You do start out the race the same way--that is, wondering why the :censor: you signed up to swim the darn thing. But, after settling in it's not so bad.:whiteflag:
It really depends on how drained I feel. Sometimes working out will make me feel better, but there are times when the body is fighting something, that I need to rest. However, I have not even had a sniffle for 4 years, so I am thinking from memory. Hope I did not just jinx myself!

I'm with Dorothy. Depends on how bad it is. Just coming on and I'll swim. I've actually fought off colds by swimming as they are coming on. If I can't breathe well, I'll stay home and rest.

It is the one time I did not regret scratching an event. I always want to scratch, but never do b/c I know I will feel bad and wish I went on to do it. Just know that I had the 200 IM followed by the 200 fly after the 1500, there was no question in my mind.
I will give it a try though. I also swam the 400 free yesterday and didn't push it. I swam at a nice comfortable pace. Coming in just under 6:00. I felt like I could have held that pace all day. IF I can swim the 1500 like that I will be ok.
If it is a chest cold then I will rest. A head cold I go on and swim. Swimming seems to help drain the sinuses for me. I too have fought off several colds by swimming, even if it is doing easy sets. If I feel one coming on, I take extra vitamin C.
