Women's Locker Room

Here's a thread for the ladies to discuss anything that relates to women and swimming. For example, feel free to discuss how disgustingly ugly fastskins are, how the "curse" can kill a meet, how suits don't fit, how swimming wrecks your hair, how hormones unhinge you, etc.

I'm addicted to tempur pedic pillows, the whole family is. Buy one and you'll be a convert. Has anyone tried one of those Tempur Pedic mattresses? Are they any good? I've got a pillow top mattress right now, supposedly one step down from top-of-the-line, and the padding has shifted to form a massive speed bump in the center of the bed.

I'm hoping to swim at Masters level at some stage. I'm an older gal (45) and learned to swim about 5 years ago. My p.b. for 50metres is only 47 seconds...is that terribly slow? Any tips for speeding up?!:drown:

  • Woke up with a sore neck again. Rushed to store to buy a tempur pedic pillow. Am going to order a travel Bucky online. And can we all just agree that Kristi Lee has the best abs of any USMS swimmer? She rocked that yellow bikini top. :applaud::applaud: Yes, and there were some other women showing off their hot abs on Sunday night at the 6th street bar crawl too!
  • Hi everyone, :Lurking: I love the idea of the Women's Locker Room...thank you, Fortress, for starting this up. I have 2 questions that are relevant to this thread, I suppose. You ladies may have even chatted about them before, but there are 15 long pages to go through and, well, I have laundry to do! :) I'm back to swimming...and a little light headed from the chlorine fumes. First...I've noticed that my regular day facial cream (Clinique w/sunscreen) does not help with the dryness so I have to apply some heavier stuff...any recommendations for a good day facial lotion with sunscreen that can overcome the dryness that comes along with chlorine? Second...I'm tired of my color fading. I'm using UltraSwim shampoo and conditioner. Wondering if there are any other regular shampoo/conditioners that you all swear by to help protect your hair. Thanks for any pointers! Back to lurking. I think all the facial potions with sunscreen are lotions, not moisturizers. Moisturizer is better for dry skin. I use both, but have to apply multiple times a day. Chlorine just scorches my skin. If I'm in it for a multi-day meet, my face turns red. Blech. As for color fading or general hair care, I am not a fan of UltraSwim products. I use some heavy duty moisturizers for dry or fine hair. I also use a product called anti-fade complex by Pureology. Who wants to lose highlights quickly?!

Re: Tempur Pedic pillow LOVE. IT. It does take a couple of nights to get used to. In fact I woke up sore the first couple of times I used it, now I can't live without it. I have a flat one, not a curved one. That said, I sleep on my back or side. The husband sleeps on his stomach or side and did not like it...I'm thinking it would not be comfy for stomach sleepers. Regarding the mattress, I've heard many say that they trap heat, so if you live in a warm climate or run warm while you sleep (hmmm...that sounds odd), you may overheat. We decided against it. :2cents:

I keep my skin smooth and sleek by using a wonderful potion called Apres Soleil made in France. For my hair I use a number 1 clipper when my hair gets done (BUZZ CUT), no problems with the hair. My skin is sooo smooth that all the ladies want to touch me.
