Dara just one the national title in the 100M Freestyle in 54.4 at the ripe old age of 40. Simply Incredible. :applaud: :woot:
If that's not inspiring I don't know what is.

Seeing her on the deck at Mizzou, her musculature was not out of proportion vs. any of the other women in the faster heats.
This is a very revealing sentence. I would hazard a guess that the majority of the other competitors are 40-50% younger than her, and yet no difference in appearance.
There was a difference in appearance, but not in terms of the size or definition of her muscles. In that respect she looked pretty much like everyone else; no bigger, no smaller.
The difference in her appearance is that she is obviously older. During the 50 Free heats, she was one of probably 60 women all lined up behind the blocks. I was looking for her through the binoculars. Even though they all had caps on, I picked her out immediately. Not because I recognized her face, but because I instantly spotted the "old" swimmer. You can see it in her face and her hands.
Of all the female swimmers at that meet, the ones who stood out were NOT the ones that had large shoulders and backs. Almost all of them had that. The exceptions were the ones who looked surprisingly small and fine-boned. Kirsty Coventry was one of them, I believe. Her hands and forearms looked very "dainty" compared to everyone else on the blocks.

In that pansy conference? Is it even possible for someone outside the SEC to have a stellar football season?
(Quite convenient to have two alma mater: I can be a Gator during football season and a Tarheel during basketball season. That's gotta be worth a dancing banana.)
Yea, it is possible to have a good season outside of the SEC. Just an undefeated season in any other conference isn't as impressive.
Face it, the best overall football and swimming are in the SEC. The best overall basketball may very well be the ACC.
I for one have no intention of giving up my opinions.
Heaven help us! You mean you have more that we haven't heard already.
This sounds very Big Brother to me.
No need to get paranoid. I was just suggesting we afford others a certain level of respect and realise that Freedom of speech also entails a certain level of responsibility and is not just a case of slathering your opinions all over the internet.
That's a long list you've compiled there JM! If I beat my PB for 200BR at zones this year will you add me?:lmao:
Actually, yes. I know we've had our differences, but we still have way more in common than regular strangers.
I wish you all the best in the pool.
Syd I understand what you're saying about being nice or being silent but I don't agree with it.
Since when does free speech entail responsibilty on us? The protection/responsibility lies in the slander, libel and incitement laws.
I recall the story of a (holocaust survivor) Jewish attorney that defended some neo-nazi's and faced huge abuse from all sections of the community. His quote to explain why he did it "Who better than me to know about having rights taken away..." or something along those lines. He defended them on principle of "Rights" not because he thought they were great guys.
Free speech and right to assembly give us all a platform, whether its racist rhetoric or "I have a Dream." You can't have the Yin without the Yang.
Watch out Syd, you don't want the wrath of Fort to be with you.
Fort has so many opinions that are not held in high asteem.
Knowth from were they come.
She has crumbled many.
Actually, yes. I know we've had our differences, but we still have way more in common than regular strangers.
I wish you all the best in the pool.
I am not a malicious person...even my serious digs are meant with good spirit...who needs drama and animosity? Not me..unless of course you're a backstroker...they're awful types...
:laugh2:
I don't know if this has been posted, but here is an excerpt from her interview that appeared on aol sports:
This first thing I thought was “Oh God, people are going to think I’m taking drugs,” because I’m 40 and swimming this fast. So I called United States Swimming and asked them to request USADA (United States Anti-Doping Authority) to test me more frequently than is required; not only urine but blood tests so there will no question about it. I get tested every two or three weeks. I want to say to the naysayers: I am 40. I am doing this. It is possible to do. Here are my results.
I guess if she is using and gets caught, it'll be another case of "I said I didn't, but in reality I did." I've always liked Dara and thought of her as a great talent and role model for young swimmers, and while I believe she is clean I can't help but have that little nagging doubt in the back of my head. So maybe I'm a hypocrite, unfortunately as you get older you become more and more cynical, life does that to you.
My goal..... is to have guns like these for masters nationals in May.
I'll need them to take down the Sasquatch Evil Smith.
