Okay, so we all like each other. Well, mostly. S-o-o-o, it does stand to reason that each and every one of has an outstanding DVD to recommend for me ( & the rest of the forums gang) to rent for viewing over the holidays: Two categories: 1.) Seasonal DVD that we must watch 2.) Non-seasonal any genre DVD that will make our holiday viewing. Thanking you in advance.

My new favorite is a short movie I just watched the other day called "Most", in Czeck it means "Bridge". Very powerful movie. Has a very religious meaning to it.....check it out, it's only about 30 minutes long......:notworthy: <>'re not supposed to speak of religion on this forum. Or so I was told when I joined. Back to Bond. Since SeaGurl agrees with me on Goldfinger, my next nomination is "You Only Live Twice." I liked M's submarine office.

But I'm still twitterpatted with the new one...and only partially because of Daniel Craig. ;) The opening sequence of Parkour was amazing!!

Peter asks a simple question about movies and before I can read all the posts we're talking about cars, hmmmm. Anyway Kung Fu Hustle. Amazing, hilarious, and like nothing else you've ever seen. Funny how that works isn't it?! About manual BMW's...I understand that the new M5 and M6 are going to be offered in the US with manual tranny's but in Europe the only choice will be SMG. SMG clearly has the performance advantage but many people find the manual rowing of gears to be a neccesary component of driving a 500 plus HP car.
  • Manual Beamers are totally the way to go. I have one (though it is STILL in the shop, new engine block needed, eta ???). My parents and brother have automatics (as is my loaner), and I loathe trying to merge onto the Capital beltway with their cars. The merge is taking place at 55ph+, and I have no control over the power going on, which I hate, and it never kicks in when I want it to either, even with the "fake stick" stuff. I will tell you, though, being in stop and go traffic with a stick can get a little iffy, especially if its a regular occurence. You have hit the nail on the head with why I drive stick ... I borrowed my mom's car when my car died and it was horrible ... I don't even mind sitting in traffic because it gives me something to do, after awhile it becomes such habit and so automatic :laugh2: I also kept trying to hit the clutch when I was driving her car ... :dunno:
  • I don't even mind sitting in traffic because it gives me something to do I agree. Big deal, you've got to put the clutch in every few seconds. My wife and I are probably biased because both of us have only owned cars with manual transmissions. I'm sure if you're used to driving an auto you wonder why anyone would want a manual.
  • H2, Start getting into "double declutching." Look it up on the web. It used to be a neccessity in the old days with manuals, but now the gears mesh a lot better, and you don't need to. However, it can really make you "drive." I do it when I am bored and on a hilly or winding road. It tends to lend itself to speeding a bit though.... ;) I would never speed ... hahaha ... I've successfully avoided many a ticket, and not successfully avoided a few, too ... those police seem to target my little Saturn ...
  • Maybe we should all go watch the movie Speed. Please ... the bus that needed to be over, what 55? How about the fast and the furious or gone in 60 seconds ... beautiful fast cars that are STICK!
  • In a blatant(and probably hopeles) attempt to hijack this thread back to movies I'll add another movie I loved,"Big Fish."
  • In a blatant(and probably hopeles) attempt to hijack this thread back to movies I'll add another movie I loved,"Big Fish." I added two movies, that also tied into cars ... bonus points for me!
  • The best driving movies were made in the 60's: Gran Prix, The Italian Job (original version, featuring the very cool original mini Coopers), and one of the best chase scenes ever filmed, Bullitt. No digital enhancement/trickery, either, the stunt crew actually drove the cars that way. Re: transmissions, if automatics with paddle shifters are good enough for F1, I'm sure they are just fine for us speed limited North Americans.
