Okay, so we all like each other. Well, mostly. S-o-o-o, it does stand to reason that each and every one of has an outstanding DVD to recommend for me ( & the rest of the forums gang) to rent for viewing over the holidays: Two categories: 1.) Seasonal DVD that we must watch 2.) Non-seasonal any genre DVD that will make our holiday viewing. Thanking you in advance.
  • Isn't Pride & Prejudice out on DVD? I just love Mr. Darcy. I also vote for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. I just love Johnny Depp. I better get that cuz I put it on my santa list on that "Tis the season thread. (I, of course, have all the Star Wars and Lord of the Rings movies. I just love the King of Rohan. He's very kingly.) I can't watch another holiday movie to save my life because I have seen them all too many times. (Go see Charlotte's Web at the theater if you want a feel good movie.) But, if pressed, I guess I would vote for Rudolph as my sentimental favorite.

My favorite elf - Arwen Undomiel Elelome. Hey, everyone watches Lord of the Rings. Didn't we all read that in our youth? Do you speak elvish? To quote oh great Arwen, "Nin o Nin o Chithaeglir last beth daer; Rimmo nin Bruinen dan in ulaer!" P.S. "Swimming Upstream" was a good movie.

Fave seasonal would be Holiday Inn with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. LOVE IT. Miracle on 34th Street with Natalie Wood comes in second. I also enjoy The Women (the 1939 version) with Joan Crawford and Norma Shearer. Hubby tolerated it once, but I think he secretly HATES it! And for some adolescent, teeny bopper, girl-power, Blue Crush w/ a healthy sized, pre her anorexic phase, Kate Bosworth.

Non-seasonal video or DVD that the entire family can watch: Fluke. It's a take on Lassie Come Home and I believe Samuel L. Jackson is one of the animal voices. It is not done "Hollywood" animation. Donna

  • My favorite elf - Arwen Undomiel Elelome. Poolraat: Aragorn should have ended up with the Eowyn, the niece of the King of Rohan. They were much better suited than Aragorn/Arwen. Arwen was all dreamy while the Eowyn was off riding horses, wielding swords and saving middle earth from Sarumon. Home Alone 1 & 2 took place at the holidays.

Yesterday was a cold, windy day and when I got home from the HS b-ball games my son was watching The Two Towers. We spent the rest of the day watching that and "Return of the King". I hadn't seen them before. The books are much better.

But there wasn't even a decent kiss in any of those movies! What about passion?! Plus, I just liked Eowyn better. I liked the second movie in the series best. There were too many endings in Return of the King. And I got really sick of the sappy hobbits. I also have in my permanent DVD library: Gladiator, Braveheart (yes, I know Mel Gibson is a bit of an ass, but I love seeing him kick Edward I's butt) and, on a less gruesome note, Love Actually.
  • Anything with Katherine Hepburn! She's classic! One that had me laughing: "Bringing up Baby" Another whose title I can't remember but Kate played an athlete who at first disliked her agent/coach, then they fell in love. But the title escapes me just now.
