Showed up at the rec. center today and there found a sign on the door that says, "All facilities closed until Monday. Have a great weekend." A few other folks were milling around the door muttering expletives similar to the ones I was vocalizing. What? No advance notice, just closed. The really annoying part is that I was on track for my highest yardage week of the year, all I had to do was complete my workout today. This was supposed to be my send-off week before my summer vacation. I guess it started a day early. Hopefully I can get in some drylands in my basement when I get home, but with the AC repair crew there today, I doubt it. Grrrrr.

I only have a few:
1) The backstroke flags at my SCM pool are gone! I feel like my times can't improve cause I am constantly figuring out where my turn will be.
2) That who "qualifies" for the Fast/Medium/Slow lanes changes in definition every day. Sometimes all the lanes have only one swimmer each and they are all equally slow.
3) When I am in a lap lane and you can clearly see I am heading towards a turn and someone still walks across the lane in front of me. Seriously? You couldn't wait 5-10 seconds?
My rant today is about people who go in a lane that is slower than their abilities, and then spend the workout alternating between lollygagging and pushing hard, so that others in the lane are either stuck going slow or getting dusted. If I could know ahead of time which sets (or parts of sets!) they were going to lollygag, then I'd just go ahead of them for those cases, but it's never that clear. Really, what I'd wish they'd do is just go in the lane they belong in and swim the workout hard.

Oct. 29-30 / SCM: South Carolina SCM Championships. Columbia, SC.
Oct. 26-29 / Somewhere far away: A required business trip.
By Murphy's law, both meets are on the same, wrong weekend! And who schedules a business meeting on Saturday, anyway? Jeepers. :bitching:

Saturday's just nuts, but I also hate the conferences or company meetings scheduled for Monday morning causing a blown Sunday of biz travel.

By happy circumstance, the South Carolina meet has been rescheduled! :woot:
But where did they move it? By Murphy's law, now we have,
Dec. 3-4 / SCM: South Carolina SCM Championships. Columbia, SC.
Dec. 3-4 / SCY: Greater Knoxville Masters Invite. Knoxville, TN. -- One of only two meets in the year in my hometown!
From impossible to impossible ...

For someone wanting scm, go to columbia. For a cost savings trip, go to the one at UT.
