Had my 120 dollar Oakley's in my TYR goggle case stolen from my backpack while I was taking a shower tonight. The pool manager is going to check his camera DVR for the lobby and entryway to see if the crook was dumb enough to walk out with them exposed. God this makes me mad. The only positive thing about this is that I did not catch the guy in the act...I might be in the pokey right about now. You are all probably much wiser than me, since most of you are older( I'm 31) :p, but you've got to keep your stuff locked up ALL the time. Too lazy to earn something themselves so they take it from somebody else...wastes of precious oxygen IMHO.
Sorry for the rant but I just had to vent some frustratrion.

Yeah, well, I went to do a long set of 400m free (5x) the other day and found to my shock and chagrin that someone had stolen my stamina! An investigation showed that said stamina was last seen boarding a flight to Tuscany on a one way ticket...
LOL! :D Nice one Peter!!
Glad to read that your sunglasses came walking back into the Y.
I must be living right as I have never had anything stolen in all the years I have been swimming. I have left a bunch of suits, bags, goggles, electronics etc at pools over the years and most of them came back to me or were right where I had left them the next day.
Maybe I have just been lucky but I like to think that most swimmers are honest. Most of the people who frequent our pools are lap swimmers with very few transients so that is an advantage. I never use a locker and just put my street clothes in my bag while I swim. It sure is good to live in the south where people always are honest.
After writing this I will probably have my car stolen when I swim tomorrow along with my pants so I can call the police while wearing my suit.
Have a great day

What is an Oakley?
Very expensive pair of sunglasses. They are a brand name, maybe the brand name in sunglasses. A lot like Speedo is the brand name in swimming.

This was me before yesterday. Usually have my suit under my sweats or shorts so I just undress on the deck and leave my bag on the bleachers. Our pool has complimentary towel service with membership and I have had that free towel taken from atop my bag a few times but NEVER has anything been missing before. Oh well...things have changed now I guess.
I'm a huge fan of Oakleys. I've had about 5 pairs in the past ten years. They also have a great warranty and will fix/repair/replace any part of the glasses for a year for free. Buy one pair and you are hooked for life, worth every penny.

Oakleys are worth every penny. Especially if you work outdoors. I keep mine safe with a pair of Croakies. I wore Oakleys one day and cut my time for the 100 by 5 seconds they are certainly worth stealing them for a day.
Keeping it locked up is no guarantee either. During a Master’s meet in the late 90s, 13 of us had our locks cut and our wallets stolen out of the lockers. They got over a grand from us. They never did catch the guys who did it. Losing the money was bad enough but having to replace all the other stuff (driver’s license, credit cards, photos, phone numbers, etc.) was really difficult.
At our local pool I had my wallet stolen from my locker (I had forgotten to lock the door) and found it in the parking lot. Money gone but everything else was there.
Last night at about 10:00 PM the pool manager calls me on my cell and tells me he has good news...somebody turned the case and glasses in sometimes yesterday afternoon. The only thing I can think of is that the thief was still in the locker room when I discovered what was missing and heard me vocalizing my frustrations. Perhaps he saw me filing a report at the front desk and realized that it was not going to be forgotten. The more I think about the whole thing, the more I think I know who did it. There was a young adult, 18-22, watching me put my glasses away into my bag as I prepared to swim. He wound up getting out of the pool about the same time I did and was in the locker room when I was. The place was pretty dead so aside from he and I, there were maybe two others in the lockers...the others were in their 50's and 60's. In hindsight, I should have checked all of the corners of the locker room (it has about 4 different areas seperated by rows of lockers) and asked people if they saw anything. Oh well, a lesson has been learned and I just won't give anybody the opportunity to steal so easily again. Thanks for all the replies by the way. For those unaware of what "Oakley's" are, I am including a photo of the ones I lost and found.
