Had my 120 dollar Oakley's in my TYR goggle case stolen from my backpack while I was taking a shower tonight. The pool manager is going to check his camera DVR for the lobby and entryway to see if the crook was dumb enough to walk out with them exposed. God this makes me mad. The only positive thing about this is that I did not catch the guy in the act...I might be in the pokey right about now. You are all probably much wiser than me, since most of you are older( I'm 31) :p, but you've got to keep your stuff locked up ALL the time. Too lazy to earn something themselves so they take it from somebody else...wastes of precious oxygen IMHO.
Sorry for the rant but I just had to vent some frustratrion.

Yeah, they make some nice glasses. I've had the above pair for about 2.5 years and was recently thinking of upgrading to their polarized series. We'll see what happens.
I wish you could buy them at Costco so I could just return them if they got scratched!
I'm a big fan of the $1 sunglasses since I lose & abuse them...
I've had better luck keeping my bag 'o stuff on the pool deck in clear view than in the lockerrooms. There's the tote bag of "stuff" (paperwork, keys, etc), separate from clothes and swimwear and all the wet stuff is in a 3rd bag (mesh). Only the clothes bag goes into the lockerrooms. We have some bleacher-style seating on deck, lots of space.
Our lockers are too small to hold those big swimmer backpacks/duffels anyhow, and the swimmers who leave them on the benches in the lockerrooms often find them in a puddle on the floor after they swim.
Cars get pretty darned hot during our Texas summers and I am really reluctant to leave a laptop locked in when I bring my laptop home from work (not enough time to go home first before I swim). I bought some extra windshield reflective screen things to cover the cargo area in the back in hopes that will help.
Once I had a heart rate monitor swiped. I had taken the wristwatch part off and fastened it around the starting blocks (I still had the cheststrap part of the heart rate monitor on me) while I finished my workout in the same lane. Somebody got a "free" $20 wristwatch out of that. Very brazen, and I was pretty mad.
We've had a few iPod thefts recently.

There's a swimmer like this at our club...who leaves a pile of everything slumped in the corner. Nothing in the locker. He builds pools for a living.
Anyway...his stuff looks sooo nasty (like Pig Pen times ten)...including the pair of inside out Fruit of the Looms ontop of the heap...that no one is going to rifle through his belongings. Never.
I guess that is one way to keep the thiefs away!

Oakleys are worth every penny. Especially if you work outdoors. I keep mine safe with a pair of Croakies.
Right! I always thought expensive sunglasses were a waste of money and I always bought cheap ones. Then I was informed by my eye doctor at age 45 that I had cataracts. He asked about my sunglasses and said that cheap ones give you a false sense of protection. They never protect your eyes from UV rays like expensive glasses. He said you'd be better off squinting with no glasses than to open your eyes fully with improper UV protection. Spend the money. You only have two eyes!
I never use a locker and just put my street clothes in my bag while I swim. It sure is good to live in the south where people always are honest.

This is the south so everything is placed in my swim bag neatly before arrival at the pool. The swim bag is hung neatly on a hook and the gym shorts and tshirt are placed in the bag folded. Flip flops are placed on the top of the bag and the towel is hung from the hook.
No mess no fuss and no embrassement, except for the spelling.
Have a great day

Oh goodness, George, next thing they'll be accusing us Canadians of not taking their security concerns seriously...
Nah, as a matter of fact I think you Canadians busted a group of would be terrorists yesterday. :)

You have a clever thief now. Two Saturdays ago, I had a watch & $4 taken from my locker. I think I know who the boys were who took the watch & the money.
If it was not cut with bolt cutters than it is not the same guy. Sorry that happened and I hope you reported it. When the bolt cutter guy was hitting the Y, they got real strict about entrance into the mens lockerrooms until they caught him.
Craig, you should report it just so they can be watched. The bolt cutter dude was caught because people had an idea who it might be, so they started watching for him. He returned, and once he was in the lockerroom, they notified police and he was caught red handed(or bold cutter handed).
Some of my daughter swim team buddies have gotten things stolen like CD players and gameboys, so it seems to be a problem in the men's lockerroom.
I have never gotten anything stolen, but I don't bring anything of value at all. Everything stays locked in the car.
